Rootsweb has an acceptable use policy. As list maintainers and list subscribers we have promised to follow the AUP. If anyone has questions as to why things are allowed or not allowed they should go to www.rootsweb.com and look for the link concerning this. It has long been a standard on any of Rootsweb's 22,000+ lists that roll calls are initiated by the list minder...this is to keep archival space to as much a minimum as possible. They are used to promote list activity...this list seems active without one.
