For those persons researching MARTIN families in l700-l800 period in Virginia, Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama and Tenn, I would recommend you take a look at the indexes for the MARTIN FAMILY QUARTERLIES, Published l975-l987. These books contain an enormous amount of information on these early families. If anyone has information on these books housed anywhere on the west coast, please let me know. I am still searching for info on Josiah MARTIN born circa 1793-97 in King and Queen, VA. He was married to Mary "Polly" OWENS. I believe their children were: Thomas, William F., Josiah (William's Twin), Cornelius H., Mary A., Calvin D, & Sarah J. Also, in 1860 there is a 60 year old Sarah MARTIN in their household. I don't know how she is related; perhaps a sister to Joseph. He was 67 according to the census. Next to them is a 65 year old Thomas OWEN, a possible brother to Polly. Was Josiah's father the Josiah listed on the 1810 King and Queen Census? Is there a will for Josiah or Mary "Polly" MARTIN who died after 1860 and before 1870? There are only 7 MARTIN'S in King and Queen County in 1810. Where did they come from? How are they related? 1810 Census King & Queen VA MARTIN: George John Jr John Sr Josiah Obadia Thomas C Willis ~Jeanette
