Hello List, I am searching for the ancestors of WILLIAM MARTIN born about 1762 in Franklin Co., VA; married 12-8-1782 in Franklin Co., VA; died in 1832 in Floyd Co., KY; He married SUSANNAH MEADOR born about 1764 in Cumberland, VA; married 12-8-1782 in Franklin Co., VA; daughter of Joel MEADOR and Susannah CLARK; William and Susannah went to Kentucky about 1806 and located at the mouth of Patton Branch on Right Beaver Creek then in Floyd County, now it is Knott County.     3. Good Morning Judy, Been looking for information on this line myself. There does seem to be some confusion out there concerning William and his wife. Have seen one file that lists the parents of William as Joseph Martin II and Sarah Lucas, while another file lists his father as Samuel Martin. I have seen the wife of William Martin listed as both Susannah Meador (daughter of Joel Meador) and Susannah Tudor (daughter of John Tudor). I have seen the marriage information on William Martin and Mary Susannah Meador for 8 December 1782 in Bedford County, Virginia, but have not seen marriage data for William Martin and Susannah Tudor. Children attributed to both in various family files are: David, Susannah, Joel, Anna, Rhoda, Sally, William, John, and Millie. The 1810 census shows the following Martin/Martens families in Floyd County: William - one male under age 10, one male age 16-26, one male over age 45, one female age 26-45 Richard - two males under age 10, one male age 26-45, one female under age 10, one female age 16-26 William - two males under age 10, one male age 16-26, one male age 26-45, one male over age 45, four females under age 10, one female age 10-16, two females age 16-26, one female over age 45 David - one male age 26-45, one female age 26-45 1820 Census shows the Martin's in Floyd County as follows: David - three males under age 10, two males age 10-16, one male age 26-45, two females age 10-16, one female over age 45 James - three males under age 10, one male age 26-45, three females under age 10, one female age 26-45 Joel - two males under age 10, one male age 18-26, one male age 26-45, three females under age 10, one female age 16-26 William - one male over age 45, one female over age 45 George - two males under age 10, three males age 18-26, one male age 26-45, one female age 16-26 1830 Census shows the Martins in Floyd County as follows: David - one male under age 5, one male age 10-15, one male age 15-20, one male age 20-30, one male age 50-60, two females age 5-10, one female age 10-15, one female age 15-20, one female age 40-50 James Sr. - one male under age 5, one male age 40-50, one female age 40-50 Joel - one male age 5-10, two males age 10-15, one male age 15-20, two males age 20-30, one male age 40-50, one female age 5-10, two females age 15-20, one female age 40-50 William - one male age 5-10, one male age 20-30, one male age 30-40, two females under age 5, one female age 5-10, one female age 10-15, one female age 20-30 Milly - one male under age 5, one male age 15-20, two males age 20-30, one female age 5-10, two females age 10-15, two females age 15-20, one female age 50-60 Susannah - one female age 70-80 (William died 1832) John - one male under age 5, one male age 5-10, one male age 30-40, two females age 5-10, on female age 10-15, one female age 20-30 others listed are Alamander, Anthony H., Job, John, John P., and Simson. Do we have a definitive answer on the surname of this William Martin's wife - Susannah Tudor or Susannah Meador?
