Carolyn, I read your post below and it caught my eye that your last name is Smalley. To my knowledge none of my Martin's lived in Alabama, although some of the names match names in my database the ages are way off. But the name Smalley interested me because my Grandfather Aaron Martin 1860-1839 married Samantha Jane Smalley 1862-1928 on 11-20-1881 in Mercer County Missouri. Samantha was the daughter of William Henry and Sarah Moss Smalley and Granddaughter of Isaac and Emma Smalley. Aaron was the son of Nathan and Rhoda Martin and Grandson of William and Mariah Martin. This Martin family's route of migration was from Virginia>Kentucky>Illinois>Missouri>Kansas. The Smalley's migrated from Penn>Ohio>Missouri>Kansas. Do you see any possible relationship? Cora, Thank you much for your reply. I do know that some of my husband's ancestors were in the Pennsylvania area before they came south. My husband's immediate ancestors were from the Northern part of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. So, there may be a connection to your Smalleys somewhere. I am saving your e-mail for our research on the Smalley line. Thanks again, Carolyn -----Original Message----- From: Cora Martin [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2005 11:00 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [MARTIN-L] Re: MARTIN-D Digest V05 #67 Carolyn, I read your post below and it caught my eye that your last name is Smalley. Hi Cora, I am hunting for the birth family of William Ellis MARTIN: b. 1 Feb. 1871; d. 12 June 1945 m. 18 Jan 1894 to Margaret M. AYERS: b. 2 Sept 1876 and d. 13 Oct 1947 Children: Arthur Ray (1896 Downing, Schuyler Co. MO to 1881 Olney, Richland Co. IL), Eunice, Mable, Hazel, Edward, and Glen. I believe the parents of William Ellis MARTIN were Abram or Abraham MARTIN: b. Morris IL or IN and died Newton Co MO after 1930. married Louisa SPEERS/SPEARS: b. abt. 1850 and died before 1930. I wondered if your Aaron MARTIN might be related to the Abram MARTIN I am trying to locate and connect to ours. Best Regards, Tricia M. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cora Martin" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2005 9:00 AM Subject: [MARTIN-L] Re: MARTIN-D Digest V05 #67 > Carolyn, > I read your post below and it caught my eye that your last name is Smalley. > To my knowledge none of my Martin's lived in Alabama, although some of the > names match names in my database the ages are way off. > > But the name Smalley interested me because my Grandfather Aaron Martin > 1860-1839 married Samantha Jane Smalley 1862-1928 on 11-20-1881 in Mercer > County Missouri.
