He was the s/o John Christian & Elizabeth Martin, grandson of Rev John Nicholas Martin. married 5 February 1805, Charleston, (Marriage notice in the Charleston Courier, 1803-1808) Maria Dorothea Kelly, b. 18 Jan 1787 Charleston, SC., christened 25 Sep 1787, died before the 1870 census. Maria was the d/o John & Mary Werner Kelly/Kolle of Charleston, SC. Maria was of German descent. Birth information for both of the above is from the records of St. John Lutheran Church, Charleston, SC. Children of John Nicholas and Maria Dorothea Kelly Martin: 1. John Nicholas Martin, b. 1808 Charleston, SC., d. 25 Feb 1825 Charleston, SC. Death date taken from the Charleston death records. 2. Ann Elizabeth Martin, b. before 1810 The 1820 census list three daughters age 0-10, this individual does not carry fwd in any records I can find on this family. She may be a duplicate of the next daughter, or she may have died. 3. Caroline Martin, b. ca 1818 (info from the 1860 census) m. ca 1835 ukn Williams Children: a. Joseph T. Williams, b. ca 1837 b. Virginia Williams, b. ca 1841, married Andrew J. Kennedy/Cannedy 4. Louisa Amelia Martin, b. ca 1820 (info from the 1860 census) m. 19 Dec 1838 Charleston, SC John W. Johnson/Johnston Children: a. P. Trapier Johnson, b. ca 1840 b. Capers Toomer Johnson, b. ca 1841 I know the lineage of John Nicholas Martin. I am interested in his children and what happened to them. The only info on his children I have is from the 1850-1870 census records of South Carolina. I am not even sure how many children he had, but a previous msg to me listed only three.
