Hello Jon, I visited your website, and I saw the 1850 census for Rockingham Co NC. My ancestors are listed as: 621- 631 William M. Martin b. 1826 NC, Farmer his wife: Mary M. (Young) b. 1825 NC H. E. (daughter) b. 1848 NC George Wesley (son) b. 1850 NC This above family traveled about 1853 to Henderson Co TN, near Lexington, and stayed there until 1870 when William died. Then about 1878 the widow and children moved to Navarro Co TX permanently. Out in Navarro Co TX, is found James Nathaniel Martin b. about 1836 NC. He is definately related to my Martin family, but need to find how. I believe he is nephew of my William M. Martin. In the 1850 census at Rockingham Co., NC there is a J.N. Martin 13 yrs old, s/o Allen Martin and Casey. This looks like a very good possiblity. That would make Allen Martin b. 1814 NC the older brother of William M. Martin b. 1826 NC. There is another possible match, a James Martin, also 13 yrs old, s/o Bagley Martin. I am also interested in Bailey Martin, 30 yrs old, married to Cynthia 27, kids are: Francis and Sarah. The reason I am interested in Baily, is there is a very long tradition of the Martin families in Reidsville, Rockingham Co NC, of using the name Bailey.
