Looking for anyone that descends from Alexander Strong Martin, illegitimate son of Alexander Martin who was the first Governor of NC after the Revolutionary War. This is the only son that Gov Martin had. He mentions his son in his will and takes care of him. His son's mother was Elizabeth Strong. She too is taken care of in the will. There is a house still standing in Summerfield, NC that was purchased by Alexander Strong Martin around 1768. He purchased it from Valentine Allen. This house is the oldest brick house in Guilford County. The house has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Please contact me if you are interested in more info. Thanks.
Hi Bruce, Where in MO were your ancestors? Do you have any names of siblings in the 1800-1850 time span? I am trying to find info on Abraham (Abram/Abrem) MARTIN, who I believe was the father of William Ellis MARTIN. His mother was probably Louisa J. SPEER (SPEERS, SPEAR, SPEARS). So far I can take my line back to Schuyler Co. MO in 1860 and possibly to 1850. Leads before that go back to IA, IN, and possibly NC, TN, KY, and/or VA. The census info conflicts on the birthplaces for William Ellis parents and grandparents. Hope we might connect........ Looking for anyone connected to John Wesley Martin and Ann P Branson. They were both born in VA then moved to KY. They were married around 1805. They migrated to MO and one of their sons was Dabney Harrison Martin. Looking for anyone connected to John Wesley Martin and Ann P Branson. They were both born in VA then moved to KY.
