Hello, I have 2 full families of Martins in Henderson Co TN, census years 1860 and 1870. By 1878 these families, which by then were 4 full households, had moved to Navarro Co Texas. My Martin families start in Rockingham Co NC, then as of 1853 are in Henderson Co TN. Names: William M. Martin b. 1826 NC Mary M. Young (wife) b. 1825 NC James Nathaniel Martin b. 1837 NC, thought to be nephew to above. I am looking for Thomas Martin born about 1798 in SC or NC but was in TN by 1821 when he married in Rutherford Co. TN to Martha Mason. All their children were born in TN. That includes Elizabeth 1825, Esther 1826, Joseph born 1828, Benjamin Franklin 1830, Caroline 1831, Sarah Jane 1832, Thomas Pinkney 1834, Horton F. 1836, Amanda 1838. There are some letters including more children but disagreement as to who they were. Some names include John and Phyllis, the missing children being the oldest. One article says there were 13 children in the family but am not so sure about that. The ones named with dates of birth can be proven. They moved about 1848 to Tishimingo Co., MS and listed on census there in 1850 and 1860. Joseph, Benjamin Franklin,Caroline, Sarah Jane, and Amanda moved to Texas. thomas Pinkney died soon after Civil War in MS, Caroline died in AL after having 3-4 children. Horton F. is the only proven child I can't locate. any help is appreciated.
