He was born about 1795, probably in PA, and married Cynthia SPANGLER, probably in VA. He is reported to have migrated from PA > VA > KY > IN. He had 13 or 14 children. There are no William MARTINs in the IN census for 1810. By 1820 there are 12. (Sorting them out has been quite a task!) William and family are reported to have lived in Franklin, Ripley and Lawrence Counties in Indiana. Their oldest daughter, Mary (m. David Whitstone), is reported to have been born in 1816 in PA. Does anyone have any leads? There were these two responses: Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 14:22:49 -0800 (PST) From: Karen K <kerrweinc2002@yahoo.com> Subject: [MARTIN] Re William MARTIN, b. abt 1795, m. I would think(and hope) he would be in PA? Maybe in 1820 in IN? Are am I missing something here..~~ which wouldn't be unusual~~grin~` Perhaps I can explain. I have several references to my William MARTIN, including the US censuses from 1820 to 1870. In the 1850 census William MARTINs widow, Cynthia, says she was born in VA. Daughter Mary is reported to have been born in PA. Here are a couple of websites: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=smalldaven&id=I38 says: "# ID: I38 # Name: William MARTIN # Sex: M # Note: Note: Early pioneers in IN.
