I have ancestors who fled MA to MS and were some of the first settlers into Jefferson Co and other counties...they were presbyterian, most from Scotland...now whether they had gathered "under the banner"of presbyterianism, I don't know but the first churches they built were that.And the first families to the west central area of Alabama, before it was a state, (still Ms territory, then the AL territory) were shown to stick to the Primitive Baptist religion...some of that group went on into Ms to be Presbyterian.
