    1. Re: [MARTIN] Swiss and German Martins
    2. Gerald Gieger
    3. Hang in there, Karen...you will find someone... BTW - German Baptist Brethren(sometimes called Dunkers) and Mennonites are anabaptist in doctrine, as well as present day Baptists, Pentecostals, Church of Christ, and all others who reject infant Baptism. My ggggg-grandfather John Martin just seems to appear in the area of Old Effingham County, GA before the Revolutionary War...He is noted in Deed records as a Minister of the Gospel, and ca1900, his g-grandson A.G. Martin recorded that he was a member of the Dunker denomination. He received multiple Land Grants before and after the Revolution, some of which are speculated to be Bounty for Military Service. Grand-father John died in 1809 in Bulloch County. His only documented wife was named Elizabeth, and I believe that she died before 1808. It is accepted that he had five children: James(b1756); Elijah; Rachel; Mary; and my gggg-grandmother Mercy, who was born in 1771. They were closely allied with the Swiss-Germanic Gyger/Gieger/Geiger/Giger/Gigger family who arrived in Charleston, SC on 1 Feb 1737. If you can relate to any of these, Please...
