My Martin family line begins with William M. Martin b. 1826 Rockingham Co NC, he married Mary M. Young b. 1825 Rockinghma Co NC, d/o Robert Young. They left NC to settle in Henderson Co TN near Lexington, TN. William M. Martin died there in 1870, and the widow and children then moved to Navarro Co TX in 1878. Below I have given specific information about my myself and my relatives in TEXAS. I am looking to contact with anyone related to, or having any information about these people. I would appreciate any help from anyone. I have researched this line 5 years and still have not found any living relatives to share my research with. > > #1. I may have some info that could be of use?? I also knew of a teacher in Bexar Co. Texas named Musslewhite. It is an unusual name. But my--- she would be atleast in her 80s by now. I think that she did have daughters?? Also, I note that one of your Martins had the middlename of Gayle. So did one of my Martins who died about 1870 as a child. These Martins were in Louisiana and were married into my Wilson family in that time frame. The husband Issac Martin died before 1910 and most of the family moved to east Texas. This Issac Martin married Sarahann Lewis Wilson Hagewood. He was her 3rd and last husband. I have found them on La. census and they are in our Family Bible. Her first two husbands died. (One was in the Civil War) She had two children with her first husband, Ludson Wilson, none with Mr.Hagewood, and then the only child with Mr. Martin was Barbara Gayle Martin. This little girl died as a child. My great great great grandmother remained married to Issac Martin unil her death and had no more children. It is believed that Issac Martin raised the two Wilson step children. The handwritting on the La. census where I find them is difficult, but it almost looks as if it says that Issac was from Indiana. There were other Martins that lived close to them in Avoyelles Parish and in the Point Coupee Parish census. Later, by 1900, the family lived in western most La. and finally in east Texas. Only a little thing that might connect our Martins,----but you never know. Given names are sometimes handed down thru families. Lilly, I found information that Jim Dave Martin and Lora Mae/May Musslewhite had seven children, all born in Cherokee County, Texas. If you will contact me, I will give you the particulars. I also have found some other information that might help.
