Hi Fellow MARTIN Researchers! H-E-L-P???!!!!!!! PLEASE??!!!!! My Great Uncle (who never knew anything about his MARTIN family; other than a couple of his Aunts and Uncles); is very ill with cancer. He is also 83 years old. He has already lost one eye to this cancer;and the other eye is beginning to lose it's vision. His doctors have given him less than 1 year to live. All of his life; it has been his desire to find out more about his family. His Father would NEVER speak of his parents/brothers/sisters/ etc.............he just did not know anything. It is his DYING WISH to know of his Grandparents and family heritage. We have been working FEVERISHLY for a couple of years now to find the answers for him. Even went to a professional genealogist who had some clues; but no definitive proof. All I know is that: SOMEBODY IN SOME MARTIN LINE SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IS RELATED TI OUR MARTIN LINE; AND WE NEED TO CONNECT THE DOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE check your family files and see if YOUR Martin line could be a "dot" on the map to our family?! It would be sincerely appreciated!!!!!!!!!!! Time is growing short.................. WE NEED THE PARENTS AND SIBLINGS OF ABRAHAM MARTIN; born 9-4-1797 SC; died 7-28-1852 Wayne County, IL. Married about 1823/1824 (place unknown) to MARY JANE "POLLY" HEADY born 2-5-1801 VA; died 7-20-1845 Wayne County, IL. (Also need parents/siblings of "Polly"!!!!) We THINK Abraham and parents/siblings (whoever they were!!!!!!!) MAY have migrated from SC to TN/KY (although it is VERY possible they MAY have gone to GA!!!!!!); then on to IL. Abraham and "Polly" settled in Wayne County, IL from about 1830 till deaths. Abraham could very WELL have sibllings who lived in GA.........but I have no proof!!!!!! The names of Abraham & "Polly"'s children: ( to compare family names which could have been "handed down"): JEPTHA MARTIN born 1825 EMILY MARTIN born 1828...married AARON W. HODGES PRUDENCE JANE MARTIN ...married JOHN D. VAUGHAN JAMES C. MARTIN...nothing else known! GEORGE W. MARTIN born 1835...married SARAH "SALLY" ANN MOFFITT ELEAZER (ELEY) MARTIN born 1838...married LUCRETIA WATKINS ***** (my 3x ggrandparents!) ABRAHAM H. MARTIN...born 1840...died 3-18-1862 Shawneetown, IL during Civil War MARY MARTIN (twin) born 3-22-1842...nothing else know! MANERVA VIRGINIA MARTIN (twin) born 3-22-1842...married JAMES F. DAY MARGARET (or MARTHA) MARTIN born 7-20-1845 Wayne County, IL. These names/dates taken from Abraham's Probate Court records at his death in 1852. Probate handled by 2nd wife- MARY MARTIN . (Abraham & she married between 1846-1852) Wayne County, IL. UNFORTUNATELY.....the courthouse in Wayne County, IL burned in 1886;destroying all records. THIS IS WHY WE NEED HELP!!!!
