My real brickwall..looking for parents or any ancestors of Samuel Ellis(Elias)Martin. Born abt 1825-started paying small taxes in Amherst Co, VA. abt 1844/45-living with Nancy Hartless in 1850 Amherst census- I have checked all will abstracts and deeds of that county-can't find any connection with another Martin. He did buy a some land from James & Margaret Martin in Nov. 1845, but sold it the same month-no clues in that deed either. Anyone have ideas as to where I should turn next? Thanks, Phyllis
