Bearpaw How would I learn about this family? I know my gggGrandmother Martha Martin was Native American. I know her father Isaac or Frank (I am not sure which) was married to Nancy Whitefeather and her Mother was Sarah Wolfe. I don't mind people interupting. I just would like to find more on my ancestors. I have looked for more on them for 20 years. They hid very well. Just a few suggestions for Skydancer-don't know if you've tried any of these routes: There are a few Isaac Martins listed on the War of 1812 data base at http://www.sierrahome.com/familytree... I am going on this assumption-many of the white men who married Native American woman were service men-perhaps that is the route to try if you haven't.(Isaacs are listed on TN, NC, and Kentucky musters.) I also noted that the locations you listed were on or near Cherokee Reservations-was Martha of the Cherokee Nation? They have lots of records since they were driven out of state after state during this time frame to make room for the settlers to come in. Here's a couple Cherokee sites...maybe someone there can help. They would know of the churches where records be found-as I mentioned before the church was out to convert + and the government kept track of them as the pushed them westward-there is a paper trial.
