I recently found out at least it is a family story that James Martin fought at Pilot Knob under Grant . I check the roster for that company and there was a James Martin in the 21st Inf. Company B . He enlisted June 15 1861, in Neoga Illinois as a corporal. He was later promoted to Lieutenant. I hope this is the same James Martin, who is the father of Sylvester. Does anyone know anything about this family? Many thank Michelle
