Now, this one was weird. A volunteer sent me via e-mail some information from a transcribed census. It included information much as I expected. I had a later census which listed children but only giving initials. This information was great. When I ran across the actual film I wanted to get a copy of the actual census. One of the children was not listed on the film. I actually called the person who did the transcription because I could not understand how he could include a child that was not on the original census. He had not a clue. Said he copied what he saw. Sometime later I was told that each census was later transcribed/copied and a copy was left in each county, state and one for the Federal Government. I could not say for a fact that this is true, but the person who transcribed this census had definitely seen a different copy than the one I was viewing at the LDS History center.
Yep, You gotta remember in the old days all that copying was done by hand!!!! No scanners, copy machines, etc. Easy to make a mistake in transcribing for the extra copies they had to make!!
