Perhaps, since that area of SC was sparsely settled at the time? He was married 2nd to Unity Barksdale (proven by her father's (John Barksdale) will), 3rd to Annie Thompson (per her tombstone & is buried with John Martin and his 4th wife) and 4th to Nancy Cartledge (proven by the will of John Martin & her tombstone.)Do you know this John Martin's ancestry?
