I am looking for the family of Robert H. Martin who married Eliza Mary Hunter in 1836 in Anson Co.,NC. I cannot find anything in Anson Co. but a Robert H. Martin married to a Martha Martin in Hayesville,Clay,NC. The 1880 Census says: Robert H. Martin 65 NC Martha Martin wife 34 NC John A. Martin son 13 " Eliza L.D. Martin Dau. 11 " William J.J. Martin S 10 " Sarah J. Martin dau. 4 " James Henry Martin S 2 " I am wondering if Eliza Mary had died 10 years ago or 2 years ago and Robert H. Martin had remarried. Any help from anyone who are familiar with this Robert H. Martin would be appreciated. David Hunter...I am also looking for my 'Martins', but think we have different 'trees'. A couple of observations. Your 1880 Martha was only 35 yrs old? That means she would have been born 12 yrs AFTER Robt.'s mariage in 1836 to Eliza Mary. However, her age does look like mother to the listed children, @ 2 to 13 yrs. If she was instead more the age of Robt., she could be the same person...Martha or Mary. My GG/mo was listed as May(1850), & thereafter (1860-1880)as Mary (correct). I also noted that the first dau. born was named "Eliza", probably after Eliza Mary. Lots of puzzle pieces missing. You need more census data.
