I am looking for information on Tabitha Martin who was first married to James Martin. They had a son Charles D. Martin b. 1818. They moved to TN where she married Willis Wright. Tabitha's maiden name is supposed to be Martin also. Some say she was Cherokee. Any info on this woman would be greatly appreciated. Patty Quinn

Per my understanding, the genealogy chat has been open approximately 2 years. However, it is fairly new to me and I have found it to be very helpful. The researchers there are so nice and they will bend over backwards to help you. I have visited other genealogy chats before and this one is the best that I have ever been too. I do not like to attend genealogy chats where people bicker with one another or gossip about others. I have not ever seen that type of behavior in this chat. I would allow my grandkids to attend it, that is how great it is. On 3/3/07, martin-request@rootsweb.com <martin-request@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. John I am looking among all my Martins Va and N.C. Tn, Al, Ms...so far no Isaac. No Spangler as well..Will send you anything I see that name on...I do same way for Jacob Martin b abt 1788. I knew what you meant about the census...sometimes you can find a common name like that among several if you can pin-point the year he got there, or year left.I have spent hours on census to determine which Jacob was still there...after I knew mine left. But I still didn't find him. Hi List, I'm trying to re-find this Chancery Case information that was crucial is telling us some names of the Isaac and Phyllis Martin family....does someone have a transcription? Double descendant Debbie Halifax Co., VA Chancery case 1804-028, John Clay vs. Moses Martin & wife. This chancery case was brought in order to resolve ownership of land which had previously belonged to William Martin who was now deceased. Benjamin Martin was listed as the only son of William Martin, who is also now deceased. Other descendants of William Martin are listed as Philadelphia Martin, wife of Moses Martin, Tabitha Martin, wife of James Garner(should read GARDNER), Susannah Martin, Priscilla Martin, Roda Martin, and Polly Martin, all of whom were possibly living in Montgomery County, Virginia in 1803 when they were summoned to court to answer this Bill in Chancery. --------------------------------- Any questions?
