    3. "Is the name Davoda Spangler pertinent to this search. She'll be in se Tenn Joyce Gaston Reece". It's quite possible. I don't have the name in my file but that's not unusual... Cynthia SPANGLER's father was John Spangler, b. abt 1751, Pittsylvania County, VA, and her mother was Christina MEYERS, Franklin Co., VA. Certainly a good jumping off place for TN. The immigrant was Jacob SPANGLER, b. 1698, Weiler, Baden (Germany). John McCarty ____________________________________________________________________________________ 8:00? 8:25? 8:40? 3. My ggg-grandmother was Tobitha Martin who was born 1793 in GA in the area that became Bulloch County ca1796. Her parents were James & Mary (unknown) Martin who lived in Bryan County GA. He was born in 1756 in a yet unidentified location, the son of John A. Martin who also lived in old Effingham County/St Phillips Parish before the Revolution. They both received several Land Grants after the War, some in Effingham, and Bulloch, and Bryan Counties. The name Tobitha was repeated in succeeding generations of grandchildren, so it seems to have been a favorite...It is often misspelled with an A, albeit the grave markers have an O... All this to say that Grandfather's John A. and James seem to appear on the scene in GA around the Revolution so they may have come from the Carolinas or even Virginia and/or Pennsylvania before that...They were German Baptist Brethren (called Dunkers) and there were large Dunker communities in all those places...but if you find that this female name is connected, I would appreciate knowing, since I have been unable to get back past Grandfather John A...
