Hello Rhonda, I am looking for a possible Dunlap/Martin connection. I have Rosanna/Roseann MARTIN, b. Sept 25, 1811 in Ohio. We have been trying to locate her family for years. She is of Irish descent. There is a possible connection to Dunlaps which we are just beginning to research. What information do you have on Martins & Dunlaps? Were they in Ohio at any time? I would be interested in knowing if there is a connection. Hi, James - I think this is one of those cases of close - but no banana!!! My 3ggf, William Martin was a postmaster in Benton Co, AR, in the 1860's, at Twelve Corners, Sugar Creek Township, near Pea Ridge. James is a very common name in this Martin line, and William's brother, Paschal Martin, had a son named James, b. abt. 1837 in Hawkins Co, TN, and moved to Benton Co, AR abt. 1852. William & Paschal had an older brother named James who can't be found after he left TN, other brothers back in TN also named sons James, which would have been the right generation for you - but I can't make the leap from Benton Co. or TN to Phillips Co, AR, for any of them. I suppose it's possible - but not to my knowledge. Good luck in your hunt! Pat Cross Davis - Texas patdmom@aol.com Burke, Callis, Carrothers, Cross, Martin, Paul, Warren, Wolf(e), Word

Hello List! Well I just joined the Martin List and it will take sometime to go through the messages. I am searching for GEORGE D. MARTIN born in Michigan Sep 6 1841/1842 and died in Rochester, NY Feb 22 1929. He married Mary Jane BRAUND of Ontario and they had 10 children. George's father is James J. Linda, This isn't MY line, but it is the line of my fiancee. I found a lot through Google.com--go to www.google.com -- and then put Martin Genealogy in the search spot. Anyway, compliments of Sue Moore and others,Isaac Martin b. 1812 in Harrison Co. Va, the son of Levi (b ca 1780 Hampshire Co.,Va, d. 8 Aug 1853 in Harrison Co. Va.) m. 9 Mar 1805 in Harrison Co. Va Elizabeth Bennett (b. ca 1785, d. 1866, Harrison Co. WV. (I'm not sure when Va split off WV.) Levi was the son of George Martin,Sr. who is supposed to have come from Ireland in the middle of the 1700's. He was married to an ANN. Could you give me a little more information about James T. to add to my files? My bro-in-law (as of Sept 8th this yr.) gave me a lot of stuff he had accumulated. Among the papers was a note on the: Martin Cemetery: Simpson District Directions: On head of Smith Run of Simpson Creek on Wm. Brown farm. Hutchinson Coal Co. Land. Readings: Taken by Guy Tetrick of Harrison County. Visited site in June of 1989. Bodies have been moved a short distance from original site, on the same land. It is to be fenced in and cared for. Only one stone remaining. Joseph Johnson aged 51 years died August 12 1853 Levi Martin aged 75 yrs. died August 8, 1853 Florinda F. Martin aged 6 years 13 days died July 30, 1851 dau. of J.B. & J. (These initials are to identify the parents, but I'm not sure who they are.) George W. N. Martin aged 13 yrs 3 mo 18dys d. Aug 8, 1851, son of J.B. & J. Janet Martin aged 44 yrs 8 mo 22 dys died Aug 11, 1851 (Bad year for disease, wasn't it!) wife of J.B. (Guess she was the mother of the preceding--poor J.B.) There were a few others. On another sheet however, I have a list of Isaac's children taken from the bible of Isaac Martin, in possession of Mrs. P.M. Long, 369 Washington Ave, Clarksburg, WV. This was written in 1930. They are as follows: Edward A. 1833 Lucy C. 1835 Frederick 1836 Phoebe Ann 1838 Emily J 1839 Mary E. 1841 Abia M. 1843 William Dexter 1845 Montreville 1847 (died small) Jennett Scott 1849 Frances 1851 Sarah Ella 1853 James Thomas b. 5/22/1855 m. 5 Mar 1882 Bettie Umble in Illinopis Benjamin R. 1857 (d. 1886, single.) I guess that's about all I have at the moment. I have to go through Jud's papers in more detail--I think there is something about Florinda in there, but I can't find it at the moment. I guess we're going to be cousins through marriage? Pam, thanks for your reply. Don't think I can help on your John Martin. This John Martin was living with the Benagor Martin family on 1860 census he is 28 years old, born in N.C. Probably a brother, nephew or ? some other relative. June
Hello fellow rooters: Does anyone here know the Internet Address for the Martin family, or is here such on, or possibly more than one. Assistance appreciated, Ira Griddip@aol.com
Was looking for any possible connection to an Owen Martin b. 1821, Va or NC d. 1865 in Meigs Co., Tn. He married Sarah Starnes in 1844, also in Meigs. Their children: Mary Ann, John, Sarah, Amanda, James, Owen, Jacob, Verina (also seen as Zeline and Salina). In 1850, he had a Susan Martin, 23, living with him - possibly his sister. The oldest child, Mary Ann m. Thomas J. Davis in 1863 and moved to so. Ill. ca 1867. They supposedly lived in Marion and Jefferson Co. before they finally settled in Saline Co. Thought maybe we had a connection. Attention Researchers with Robeson Co NC Roots! July 10th, 2001 the Robeson County Heritage Book Committee will be having their meeting at 7:00 pm in the McLean Room of the Robeson County Public Library in Lumberton, NC. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The Robeson County Heritage Book will be written by hundreds of people who submit stories on their Robeson County connected ancestors. If your ancestors were from Robeson Co NC, then we encourage you to submit stories on your Robeson Co NC ancestors. If you do not put your family's story in the book then no one else probably will, and the end result is that they will be left out of the publication. You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to write a story. You can make your stories just as simple, or just as elaborate, as you wish. If you are interested in this project and would like to be placed on the mailing list to receive a brochure [brochures should be in from the publisher by late July], then send us your name and smailing address to the e-mail address listed below: SAWESTGTWY@gateway.net Thanks, Sam West Lumberton, NC
