    1. [MARTIN-L] My new website with surnames
    2. Charles Moore
    3. Hello all fellow researchers! I have just finished setting up my genealogy web site with surnames listed and Gen Reports. Please note, if you find any info on my site that you feel may have been copied from data you have posted on the internet, PLEASE, let me know so that I may give you proper credit. When I first started doing my research I went at it rather blindly and without direction, and I failed to gather the source of the information I was gathering. Now I am having to backtrack and try to correct this. Also, if you have any information that could be added to the site, again, please let me know and I would be glad to post it, with proper credit to you. And if you find anything that is not correct, please tell me so that I can correct it. The surnames that I have listed are: ARUNDELL, BARNETT, BROOKE, CONWAY, DICKERSON, EATON, FORD, GOODIN HARRINGTON, HILL, HOWARD, JESSOP, JONES, KILPATRICK, MARTIN, MASON, MOORE, NORWOOD, PRICE, SHAW, STEIN, STICKEL, TRACY, VANDERGRIFF, and WARFIELD. Note, some surnames have very little information to offer as I have had a difficult time finding any data on them. Others have a good deal of info. Please let me know if you think we have any connections. The URL is: http://www.geocities.com/pm28766/ Thanks! Charlie Moore

Looking for a John or Jack Martin born about l820 in GA. John K. Hi John, No, actually I'm searching for info about this family. The info I got was from a Grady County historical book that I am now purchasing. As soon as I get it, I'll research and see if there's any more information on the Martins and post it here. I do know that the area around Cairo and Thomasville changed county lines with frequency until 1906 when the boundaries stablized. I'm not sure if there were any other county names beside Decatuer, Grady and Thomas in that area of Georgia. Sue

    1. [MARTIN-L] GOODLOE-MARTIN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of three GOODLOE children taken at the Van Buskirk Studio in Savannah, Missouri. The photo appears to have been taken in the 1880's when all three boys were 3-9 years of age. On the back of the photograph it says "Aunt Jennie & Uncle Bob GOODLOE's 3 oldest boys" and then the names Elmer, Lenourd, and Marvin. I have spelled the names exactly as they appear on the photograph. A kind GOODLOE Family researcher was able to share the following information regarding this family: The information on Lilburn Hoskins Goodloe and his descendants was provided by Ray Emerson Goodloe of Olathe, Ks. (probably dead by now, he was born in 1891) and Glen Woodford Goodloe of Albuquerque, NM. (born 1915 - possibly still alive). Robert Franklin Goodloe (1861-1909) m. 30 Dec 1879 Virginia Martin (1853-1904), a cousin. They lived at Savannah Mo. Children were: Leonard Goodloe (said to have m. and had five children; no other data) Elmore Lilburn Goodloe (13 Jun 1889 Savannah MO) - Sept 1963) m. 24 Dec 1902 Nanny Belle Rice (29 Jan 1881-11 Jul 1961). He was in the printing business at Kansas City, MO. His children were: Dorothy Virginia Goodloe DAR #547, 405 (21 May 1905 Independence MO - )m. Chester C. Cooper. They lived at Kansas City, MO and Tucson AZ. No children listed. Muriel Belle Goodloe DAR #547,406 (28 Oct 1908 Kansas City MO.- 1977 Tucson AZ). Lived at Kansas City, Mo, and Tucson AZ. No marriage or children listed. Marvin Goodloe, (no birth or death) m. Lettie ?? Lived at Compton, CA, said to have had three children. Lloyd Goodloe (no birth or death) m. ????Ray Had one son Jack Goodloe of Austin TX, (No birth or death) This Glen Woodford Goodloe would be a first cousin, once removed from the children of Robert F. & Virginia Martin Goodloe. He worked for Reynolds Metals Company in Kansas City. He ended up in New Mexico and could possibly still be alive. Otherwise, the best bet for a living relative is Dorothy Virginia Goodloe. I'm hoping to find someone related to this family so that photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [MARTIN-L] Mary Virginia Martin Gray Griffin
    2. Gil & Sue
    3. Hi all, My gr-gr-gr-grandparents are said to be Abraham Martin b. abt 1814 in GA, married Elizabeth about 1835. Their children were George (b. 1836), Mary Virginia (b. 1834), Frances (b. 1844), William (b. 1846), and Margaret (b. 1849). Mary Virginia Martin (25 Jul 1834-6 Oct 1932) first married Mench/Minch Gray and had Pickens "Pick" b. 1854 (m. Ella Williams or Ella Bennett and had 16 children), Susan "Susie" H. Gray b. 1855, and James "Jim" Mench Gray b. 1858 (m. Annie L. White 6 Aug 1882 presumably in Cairo, Grady, GA and had either 9 or 10 children - but only six lived into adulthood). After Mench Gray did not return from the Civil War, Mary remarried to James Hezekiah Griffin (who had one other child by a previous marriage). Together they had Robert "Bob", Thomas Leroy "Tom" (m. Avieann Molena "Lena" Leavins and had 9 children), Walter Wilton, Lloyd, Mary Virginia "Setie", Eugenia "Sissie" (m. Taylor) and Elizabeth Sennia "Semmie" (Barber). I descend from James Mench Gray who we believe married in Cairo, Grady, GA and then moved to Pensacola, FL in 1903 where he died in 1914 after working as a well driller and starting a company that his sons took over after his death. If anyone connects with these Martins (and shirt-tails) please email! Sue Cancio

    1. [MARTIN-L] Re: ELIZABETH HENNESSEE MARTIN
    2. Dave Martin
    3. ELIZABETH HENNESSEE was born in Burk CO. NC around 1795 and is believed to have been the daughter of James David Hennessee. James had a daughter Alcy about the same age from a different wife than the mother of Elizabeth. Elizabeth's mother was 1/2 Cherokee. By 1817 Elizabeth was married to Amos martin and living on a farm adjacent to James David Hennessee in Warren County TN. Amos and Eliz. moved to Effingham IL by 1820 and Amos dissapears form records by 1850. Elizabeth is on the 1860 census in Ft. Smith AK and doesn't appear on census after that. I would love to find some proof of Eliz. Cherokee linage other than the Newspaper clipping I have. Dave Martin
