Hello Tammy....... I did a little poking around in the 1880 Census and came up with the following info........ Somehow I think that this is your MARTIN family, and there is other MARTIN's and CRABTREE's near by....... This is the closest that I can find........ Check the 1870 census........ most likely you will find both James and Margaret and that they live near each other..... Sorry.... the LDS census records does not give the E.D. numbers....... you'll have to guess at that...... It does give the "Printed" Page number......... Hamilton Martin, age 51, page 155-D, George W MARTIN, age 29, page 156-A, Benjamin CRABTREE, age 24, page 155-C and John CRABTREE, age 61, page 154-B Census Place: Scott, Sharp, Arkansas Source: FHL Film 1254057 National Archives Film T9-0057 Page 155D Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace James M. I talked to Roland Sallee yesterday and he will check the family...what I understand is that an Uncle is also doing research. Larry Martin

Hi, I am trying to find any information on my Martin family line. My grandfathers name was James Harry Martin, don't know birth or death dates or places. He married Martha Mae Fields b Feb 24, 1901, d 1978. Together they had 4 children. David, Arnold, Wilma and Viola Bell. They lived in Newkirk (Kay County), Oklahoma in the later years of their lives and possibly even in their earlier years as well. I don't any information on my grandfather except his name. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me............Brenda ----- Original Message ----- From: <MARTIN-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <MARTIN-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 5:00 PM Subject: MARTIN-D Digest V01 #106
I wish the Martins would have stayed in one place. It is tough trying to track them down when they moved all over the place. I wonder if there is any one root famiy back in the U.K.? Or did just a whole bunch of folks take the name Martin? Who knows! Tom Thomas W. Horton Glen Mills, Pa.
Thank you Penny!! I felt like I had such a small amount to go on. I have Daniel's son Phillip's birthdate and all of his records (including death record) state his father as being Daniel Martin. I'm not sure where my Daniel Martin was born but I know he was in Catarugus Cty, New York around the time when his children, Phillip and Sarah were born. I also wondered if maybe Delilah and Daniel divorced. I don't know how common it was back in those days. Thanks for the 'hope' you've given me. I thought knowing Phillip's birthdate, and the county it would be easier, but so far...it hasn't. Thanks Penny---I won't give up!!! Daniel Jr. married Eliza Vaughn in 1833 in Allen County Ohio, he died in 1886 in Sullivan County, Missouri. However, another branch of this same family continued on in New York. I do not have all the details, but I may know someone who may. I will forward your message to her and see if she has a clue to your Daniel, or to someone who may. Meanwhile, Daniel Srs cousin Rev. Eli W.Martin was recorded as living in Hinsdale , Cattaraugus County in 1825, 1827,1830. He died in Bath, Steuben county July 7 1850. I have found with my reseach, that almost all Martins found in the same areas turned out to be related, so do not give upyet! Penny ______________________________
