    3. I have question for you all. If family is living with a family when the Census taker came around would the family that is visiting be list just with family. So they would not be in Census. James P in 1870 Montgomery Co.TX. Could Moses Martin be with this family so they are listed. I did find Frances Martin but in 5 countries in TX. Which one is which is you guess as good as my Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Martin" <fmartin@tstar.net> To: "Magers, Ruby" <magers@tsixroads.com>; "Alexander, Karen" <KAlexan254@aol.com>; <Martin-L@rootsweb.com>; "Martin, Stacey" <magicm@mybluelight.com>; " Inzer, Reba" <rsinzer@msn.com>; "Thomas, Grace Pratt" <gracepthomas@juno.com>; " Nelson, Geoff" <geoffn@netdex.com>; " WARDLAW, Juanita" <ddoright@cox-internet.com>; " ariciu, janet" <monkey@getgoin.net>; "Glenn, Clay" <Glenn209@aol.com>; "Mills, Julia" <r1j1mills@juno.com>; "Evans, Jane" <djevans1@mindspring.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2001 3:57 PM Subject: [Fwd: Martins] > Hi Folks: > Here is some good looking data Janet turned up. 3. Looking for any information on; David Martin b: abt 1840 married to Susan Brown b: abt 1858 per Cherokee Nation 1880 Census Children: Jennie age 6 Lizzie age 2 Jennie married a MORRIS and there is a roll # next her name is 4552. I think this is her Dawes roll #. Lizzie married Henry FLANDERS and the roll # next to her name is 4176. Lizzie died 3 June 1901. Next to David MARTIN and Susan MARTIN nee BROWN on the 1880 census is stamped [DEAD], so I will assume that they died before 1901, because Jennie was the one to verify that Lizzie's children could be included on the Cherokee rolls.

    3. This was of interest because I have Martin ancestors from Burlington, Des Moines County. They are Rev. John A. Martin, b. 1809 in England; his daughter, Mary Laura Martin, b. 1838 in England. The 1856 Iowa state census lists them as living in Burlington with the Rev. Martin's second wife, Giles (Graham) Martin and her two sons from a previous marriage. They were also Methodists. in 1857, Mary L. Martin married Thomas C. Clark in Burlington. I do not know who Mary's mother was or whether she had any siblings. Barbara Archer "Connie R. 2. Hi Penny, Thanks for your answer. I copied your email and will reorder the 1850 census. I sure could have missed a head of household and that would maybe explain why Nettie was living in another home. Her mother was a widow? I appreciate your time to send the email. Bonnie

    3. Rec'd this from another list and thought it might be of interest to some. Makes it even more confusing when looking up these "missing" relatives. http://moses.westberry.com/moses/files/namechange.pdf

    3. John S. Martin is also on the 1820 index in Tus co. S C twp. In 1830 there is a John S. in Delaware co. Lin twp. It is possible they migrated west like many others at that time. I hope that helps a little. Good luck! 2. Penny, I have a grgrandmother born in 1835 in Delaware Co, OH. I have not found the name of her parents. Her name was Elizabeth Antionette Martin, but went by Antoinette or Nettie. I found her in the 1850 census living with a family named Gaston in same county. She may have been a domestic. I did not find any Martin family from which she may have been born. She married a Wm Wigton who died after they had a son named Fred. She moved to Iowa and married George Snyder. This is a long shot, but up to the brick wall. Bonnie TX

    3. Hi all, am looking for anything on a Nancy Martin. This is a huge complicated mystery so will try to keep it simple! I have scant info. She probably lived in Steubenville, OH. What I do know for certain is that she had a daughter Martha in 1850 with Benjamin Clifton. In 1883 Martha visited Steubenville to see her brothers whom she had not seen since 1869. She was living in Putnam Co., OH. The brothers were raised in Steubenville . Martha had married in Morrow Co., OH to Harvey Calkins who died 1882 in Putnam, she then married Solomon Wollam in Putnam. Benjamin Clifton lived in Steubenville from around 1818 to 1842 when he moved to Macoupin Co., IL, then moved back to Steubenville by 1848. In IL he had three children, William, John & Zerilda, and in 1848 had David in Steubenville. In 1850 William & David are being raised by Solomon Risden in Steubenville and John and Zerilda by John Seaton in IL. Have no idea who had Martha. I do not know if Nancy Martin was mother to all or just Martha. .. I just don't know. I would appreciate any help, any tiny crumb that might help! Faith keahey@fiberpipe.net
