    1. [MARTIN-L] David Sanders Martin La Grange GA 1927 & following
    2. Karen Grubaugh
    3. I am looking for information about David Sanders Martin who did amature genealogy research at least on a Martin line in the 1940s and 1950s. I believe he had an insurance office in LaGrange. His son, William Clarence Martin, was born 5/13/1927 in La Grange GA. I've been informed that William Clarence Martin went on the be an architect of some reknown in Atlanta GA. William Clarence Martin married JAnet Spinks on 6/5/1948 and they had 3 children: William Sanders Martin, Tobery Gregory Martin and Tonia Claudi Martin. Please send me any tid-bit of information. Thank you. ===== Karen Grubaugh of Boerne TX To access my genealogy database go to worldconnect.rootsweb.com Database name: kgrubaugh __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 2. Just yesterday, Ancestry.com sent a notice I'd be charged $69.95 for my annual subscription to be renewed. I did have the Fed Images, but they were not worth the money for me, I do have access to a wonderful genealogical lib in my town, besides which I could never get a good look, and had trouble getting back to an enlarged image...but that probably was just my problem. 3. The only part of Ancestry. com is the census. I have gotten quite a bit of info from them. The other has not been useful at all. I never can find anyone I am looking for. Take the quarterly census to start out with and you can see if it will help. 3. Susan, Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com, are in my opinion, taken together, are two of the best genealogical main resources on the web. Of course, ancestry now owns rootsweb. Rootsweb is free, but certain databases in ancestry require a membership fee..I believe it is about $60 for an annual membership--this will also let you look at the Census indexes---if you want to look at the actual census images they are developing, I believe thats another $40. But if you plan to do a lot of census work, it would be well worth it, unless you have access to a major library that has all the censuses on microfilm. Even then, it is a lot easier to look at the scanned images up on your computer at home! 3. I noticed the problem with Ancestry.com - I'm new to this and do not subscribe to Ancestry. Do you consider it a good resource? I've hesitated to join, but the census data looks very enticing. Would appreciate any feedback about its usefulness. Also - still looking for George Washington Martin's parents, families, any connection - probably b abt. 1889 Georgetown SC, son of J.M. Martin. In north Florida by 1910, died abt. 1935 in Florida - probably New Smyrna/Volusia County area. Married Minnie Ola Tyson daughter of James Tyson of Georgia. They married at Lk Como FL in 1910 - wedding announcement says their families lived in Pomona FL. No information about siblings, parents, etc. Thanks for the help Susan

    3. I am searching for the identities of the parents of John Wesley Martin, born 1840 in Helena, AR and his sister, Henrietta Josephine Martin, born 1842, Helena, AR. They are somehow connected to two children of John Duke of Grainger Co, TN, Francis Duke Wilson and Mariah Duke Cowley. There are several of us researching this line and all have reached the conclusion that the Martin's were in Grainger Co. area around 1838, and are somehow connected to these Duke sisters. John Wesley and Etta are listed on the Bowie Co, TX census in 1850 living with Francis Duke Wilson and in 1860 living with Mariah Duke Cowley. From some family information passed down, we believe the parents of John Wesley and Etta died shortly after Etta's birth in 1842, and the children went to TX about that time. I am at a total dead end trying to find out the names of their parents. Does your family bible happen to mention any of these Martin's. According to information my grandfather left, the parents were from SC/GA area, and the father's name was most likely John Martin Jr. Thanks.
