    1. [MARTIN-L] John H. Martin, TN
    2. James Duckworth
    3. I am looking for ancestors of John H. Martin (b. SC abt. 1804) and spouse Martha that lived in Wayne Co., TN in the 1850 census. He had a sister, Deborah Martin (b.SCabt 1800) spouse John Cook. I have seen on the Internet where John Martin's father was Samuel Martin and mother, Rebecca but have no documentation. Deborah and John Cook moved to Tishomingo Co., MS abt. 1845 and then on the Upshur Co., TX in abt. 1857. Donna Duckworth

    3. Seeking more information regarding Martin families in Virginia. Specifically I am seeking Shadrack Martin born about 1735 perhaps in Ireland. Oral tradition states that Shadrack Martin came from Ireland through England, over to the Netherlands, then to central Virginia and on to Laurens County, SC. We can verify that he was in Charlotte County, VA in 1767 as he signed as a witness for his father in law John McNees/McNeese. We do not find that Shadrack owned any land in Virginia (no deeds located). Shadrack did appear in the Little River Settlement in Laurens County, SC in 1771 where he received land. There are other Martin men who also received land in the area: William married to Sarah, Martin MARTIN, James, Peter and others. The ages are right for these men to have been brothers of Shadrack Martin. Another question though related to the above Shadrack Martin. There is a William Martin of Charlotte County, VA who had dealings with the McNees family in regard to land sales. A deed was recorded 3 June 1771 with right of dower relinquished by Liddia, wife of William Martin. This is not the same William Martin that appears in SC earlier on. Were these the parents of Shadrack Martin? All considerations appreciated! Shirley Wagstaff Bandon, Oregon DSPW@webtv.net

    1. [MARTIN-L] Lynch, Martin, Joyce, Gibbons, Nee
    2. Hello, My gr, gr grandmother was Margaret (Mary) Joyce born about 1840. She married Martin Lynch, born about 1837. They had three daughters: Mary, who married John Gibbons in Pittsburgh in 1890; Honor (Nora) born 1864 in Clifden, Co Galway; and Bridget (Delia) - my great-grandmother - who was born about 1862. Delia married Patrick Martin in Pittsburgh in 1888. Also, I wondered if any members of this list knew H. Andrew Brown who has posted messages to the County Cork Rootsweb list. He has some of the same names that I do. I sent him an e-mail, but it came back as undeliverable. Thank you. Carol Harris Pittsburgh, PA

    2. Carl, I have a bunch of Rayburn names in my Martin/Neely database. They are from Texas -- Nolan County. The oldest one is Henry Franklin Rayburn born in 1895 in Evant, TX. Would be willing to share more if these seem to be in the area you are seeking. I am not researching this particular line.
