This is now occurring on a number of Rootsweb lists, using variations of a number of list members' addresses. The worm itself may not have actually originated with the members mentioned below. Based on the number of lists affected, my suspicion is that the problem is with the Rootsweb server or a related/connected server. Dean Sliger
Is Marjorie or Margorie a nickname? What is it 'maybe' "short" for? thank you, Myrna
This is all the information I have on my Martin family. If it is any help to anyone or if it links to any other line I would appreciate all of the help I can get.. William Martin born about 1867 in Illinois (both parents also born in Illinois) Nettie Martin: born about 1881 in MO. (father born in Mass, mother born in Ohio) children: all born in MO. ( I believe Chariton County) Albert 1900 William 1904 Weathuraw (as good as I can figure out) female 1907 Whitham Rankin (my grandfather) 1909 ( he was born in Whitham MO and was named after both founders of the town who last names were Whitham and Rankin) John C. 1912 Mary M. 1914 Inom (again spelling) 1918 This information came from the 1920 Triplett township census in Chariton County.. Thank you Jonnie Martin Newara Justpeachy521@aol.com
I have received that email from three separate email lists. I believe it sends itself out once that persons computer has been infected. I just email the person and tell them that I believe that their computer sent me a virus (email with attachment) and to get it checked out. I never download the attachment. Thank You... That was not my intent at all. I apologize if this caused anyone any anger. I was not blaming anyone on the list. Once again I do apologize but I was just letting members know that there was virus . Jonnie Martin Newara Justpeachy521@aol.com
Sandy, not that we know of. He is from Alabama but we haven't traced them back from there. Noah Webster Duckworth lived around Jasper, AL and his father is suppose to be Thompson Duckworth but I have no documentation. Jonnie - You must be new to the Internet. Very seldom are viruses and worms ever intentionally sent, and then only from the original designers (perhaps I should be flattered, but I can't even imagine how such things are designed). After reading your little bit of slander, I spent several hours through the night running my antivirus and firewall programs, only to find that your "virus" reached you via one of the numerous server connections, no doubt this "neark.net," and not this computer. The only thing sent recently to the Martin-L from this computer was advising someone to look for their people in the Census -- a message which, I imagine, would be perceived by many on this List as something horrible, however... The next time you want to defame somebody, please do some investigation first. What holiday? Donna, Does your husband by chance have relatives in the upstate of SC? Oconee or Pickens county? There are several from this area. You must also understand that worms and viruses can get your email address from someones address book and it can mail out things using your email and you may know nothing about it-nor does the person whos infected computer it is sending from. UPDATE(most virus programs have free updates to down load at their web sites) and RUN your virus program monthly or more. Never file attachments without scanning...it only takes a minute to prevent a lot of virus head aches. Never blame things on one person-you never know where these things come from. Carol Anderson ps: I apologize to some of the listers who are angry at this being off topic. I think this issue needs to be addressed an it is important for people to be aware...and to divert yet another MARTIN List Feud. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dean Sliger" <deanslgr@juno.com> To: <MARTIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 26, 2001 5:59 AM Subject: Re: [MARTIN-L] Virus... > Jonnie - > > You must be new to the Internet. Hi Bill: I have traced (NOT TOTALLY PROVEN) my line to Susannah Martin from my paternal grandmother. I would happily send you what I have from Susannah to where the Martin line ends for my lineage. I can also send you the line and the sources I have under separate attachment if you would like them. If I do it correctly it would give you all the children of the various branches. Hello, I just received an e-mail from someone who has access to the Martin query board. Thank goodness my virus scan picked up that it had a virus. In the subject it actually had my Gr.grandmas name. Nettie Martin. Please aware that someone is sending a virus with actual family member names.. the e-mail came from _deanslgr@neark.net Have a wonderful Holiday Jonnie Martin Newara Justpeachy521@aol.com
Sandy - If you haven't already, look for these people in the 1920 Census -- the microfilm should be available through your local public library. Her mother, a brother, or some other relative might be living with them that would give you clues. If nothing else, you'll find out in which state she was born (if you don't already know). Look at the actual Census rather than a Soundex or a compiled index so that you can see any other surnames in the household at the time. Dear list, I am working on the following: William Ivan Martin married Ruby Mae Luntsford 05/06/1940 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. They moved to OK and had one child Carol Jean Martin born 1946 Drumright, Creek Co, OK. Carol married a man by the last name Johnson. They had two children one of whom is married to a TOAL. William died in 1978 in Sandy Springs and Ruby died in Tulsa on 10/1985. If any of these names are familiar, please contact me. I am most anxious to learn about Rubys family and Carol might be able to help. Thank you Wanda Luntsford Smith
I am sending this from G Martin, who isn't a member of our list. Please reply directly to him with any questions or comments. Julia French Wood ........................... >From "The Devil in the Shape of a Woman" - Susannah Martin b. 1625 England to Richard North & unk - m. Aug 1646 George Martin from Salisbury, MA. Her father died 1668 the year her last of 9 children was born. Only Richard & George are named, one son died in infancy. Her husband died 1686. The book states she would not have been executed if her father, husband or any male heirs had been alive. I would assume from this at the time of her death 19 July 1692 she had only surviving daughters. Faith
