    2. Robert Edmondson
    3. MARTIN Surname Family Researchers: I am searching for info on ancestors of members of my Father's lineage. David C. Martin (b,-abt 1805 in ?) a carpenter was listed in HAMILTON, MARTIN CO., NC in the 1840 census. I have not seen the originals on film, so do not know the family make-up, as of now. I found him in 1850, north in Bertie Co, with family following: (hd) David Martin 45yrs Carpenter (w) Francis H. " 37yrs (s) James H. " 16yrs (Carpenter in 1870/80) (d) Martha A. " 13yrs (s) William G. " 11yrs (s) John B. " 9yrs (s) David L. " 7yrs [(?)-15yrs in 1860] (s) Peter B. " 4yrs (d) Sarah T. " 1yr ...................................................... In 1860 census, 'widow' Francis H. Martin was residing in Hamilton (again) with children each 10yrs older, except David was 15yrs, & James H. & sister Martha were not at this home location. James was married (no record yet) & wife Nancy (unkwn) Martin gave birth on 11Oct1860 to Elethia Carthine Martin, my paternal G/Mo. I've located James, Nancy & (d) Carthine in Hamilton in the 1870 census; David Martin was enumer-ated independently 'hd-of-hsehld', @25yrs--a 'store clerk'..was either living alone next door to brother James, or rooming in James & Nancy's home, but consid-ered a seperate 'hd/hsehld'. In 1880 census, James H.,wife Nancy,& "Cottie" (G/Mo's nickname) were living in Hamilton, with 'boarder' E. Edmondson, a store clerk. Ebenezer & "Cottie" were married two yrs later...my paternal G/Parnts. Does any Martin 'tree-climber' have anything that mirrors the history related above, in your research data? I would greatly appreciate the chance to share common elements of our trees! Thanks & 'happy pruning'. 1. [MARTIN-L] [Board mbrs.-12/2] Searching for JAMES H. MARTIN [nc]
    2. Robert Edmondson
    3. Can 'ANYONE' help me w/info on: JAMES H. MARTIN (b.abt-1833, Martin Co.,NC (-OR- near-by) I am searching for info on a member of my Fa's lineage. I found him listed in both Martin Co.,NC 1870 & 1880 census records...in both cases as a 'carpenter', & hd- of hsehld. In 1870: James H. Martin (18yrs); Nancy (40yrs); Carthine (19yrs); plus 2 boarders. In 1880: James H.(47);Nancy(50);"Cottie"(20yrs)[nickname);plus (boarder) E.Edmondson (26yrs). Ebenezer Edmondson (m) Carthine(Cottie) 13Sept1882...my paternal G/Parents. I also found 'a' James H. Martin listed in "trades", as a 'painter' in Charlotte, Mecklenburg CO in 1892/3. I do not know if James was Cottie's brother or father. To further confuse the facts, grave-sites in Hamilton area have graves for Ebenezer & Carthine, Nancy G. Martin, & ""John"" Martin. I do not know whom this Martin is! [His DOB is consistent w/1880 census records for my James H.] I may have recently located James H. in the NC census for Bertie Co., in the house-hold of David C. (45yrs); Francis H. (35yrs)....David was a CARPENTER! James H. was listed as age 16yrs...(b.-abt 1833/34). Does any MARTIN tree-climber have anything in their research data bank which mirrors anything from my re- search? If so, I would greatly appreciate anything you might share w/me about your Martin family "limb" which might help me clear up my 'puzzle w/many missing pieces'. Thanks, & happy 'pruning' & Happy Holidays. Bob Edmondson Chatsworth, CA "wreluvsthesea@yahoo.com" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Sorry, Bill, but I don't have the author's name. That has been my downfall in all my years of researching. When I find something, I get so excited and engrossed in reading and copying that I sometimes forget to write down the author's name. The title actually does not include the word Amesbury. Yes, I am descended from Richard, son of George and Susanna. Or, at least I 'will be' when I can prove that David born in 1719 was the one who came to Biddeford about 1748. Many of us are working on it and we are 99% certain but lack that little bit of proof.. Rosemary

    3. Billie, I am interested in your book on the Martin family. Do you have a John R. Martin who married Catherine Williams in your book? Both were born in Bedford County, Virginia. John was born in 1799. They moved to Montgomery County about 1838 Here are the children born to this couple according to Ancestry.com Jan2001: Thomas M Martin Sarah Martin Mary Martin Ardenia Martin Elijah Martin William Martin James Martin Jane Martin Catherine Martin Elizabeth Martin Nancy A Martin Andrew Jackson Martin I believe these children were born between 1818 and 1839. I would be interested in your book if my people are part of your lines.
