From this Martin family the only known Martin who came back to the USA was Allen's son Lorenzo Foster Martin who went to New Hampshire, Illinois and then to Ohio. I would assume there were more but can't identify them. I have found no connection to the Martins in the Southern States so far. But I cannot connect any other Martin family so far. The other names you list are not familiar to me but doesn't rule out a connection. Hello Martin Listers: Looking for the ancestors or descendants of Abraham Martin who married Candice Chapin. Candace was born in Uxbridge, Mass 5 Nov 1769. The family can be found in Wardborough Township, Windham County Vermont in 1800 probably came from Mass. prior to this. By 1811 Abraham settled in Stanstead Plain, Quebec Canada and was postmaster their for many years. Children: Daniel, Orrin, Malinda, Jane, Amasa T. Chapin, Allen, Amarilla, Olive and Foster. I descend from Allen. Would like to hear from descendants. Bill R. visit my genealogy home page at http://www.a-c-o-m.com/genealogy1.htm
A widow named MARGARET MARTIN with three children, TOLIVER P.(Pinkney), THOMAS C.(Calvin?) and MARY L. (or A?) were in Hall Co., GA, in the 1820s. In1832, she was granted land in Cherokee Co., GA, in the 1832 Lottery. Who was her MARTIN husband and where was she from? Any ideas will help. Paul WhitePaul@aol.com
Hello Listers, JAMES MARTIN Jr., born 1795 in Chatham County, NC migrated to Georgia and married CATHERINE WHEELER 4-16-1329 and is the father of MARY CATHERINE who married WILLIAM ACREE. Does anyone have documented proof that James Jr is the father of Mary Catherine? I cannot find a will or any other mention of their relationship. Thanks and all of yall have a great and SAFE New Year. Figgie
Howard, Welcome to the "Elusive Martins in that part of Georgia" group. I have recently made contact with some 3rd cousins in my Reuben Martin line and hope that we may be able to combine info and make some progress. I plan to get together my current information in the next few weeks and will send what I find to the list. In the meantime, I'll re-post my only totally documented facts, which are from the 1850 Emanuel Co census: Reuben Martin 47 years old Priscilla 35 Elizabeth 19 Martha 17 John 14 Mary 12 Rachel 6 William 5 Sarah 3 [my ggrandmother] Vianah 2 Not named 3 mo John S. 35 (mechanic) According to oral family history, Reuben re-married by the 1860 (Bulloch Co) census to Jane Cavanah (listed as age 20). My mother's half first cousin who died a few years ago said that Reuben moved to Mississippi. My 91-year old mother, who visited her grandmother Sarah in Emanuel Co, thinks that Reuben's first family pretty much disjoined from him when he re-married. I've never seen WorldConnect down. I know Ancestry shuts down lots of weekends for maintenance - which is when I have the most time to do research! And since WorldConnect and Ancestry's family tree database are now linked - I guess that might affect WorldConnect. Pat

Hi Michelle, I have a James D. Martin born about 1873 in Tennessee. I do not know where he moved to from Tennessee nor other information. His father was Wiley Martin and his mom was Martha (maiden name unknown) Martin. Is he related to your tree.
