Hi, I am trying to locate a piece of property once called the "Bear Farm", located (according to a military deposition by Christopher Columbus Martin 11 April 1894) "NW of Kalida, Putnam County Ohio about three miles". Buried on this farm were Obed Martin who died 12 October 1848 and his daughter Mary Ann (Martin) White, who died before Dec 1864, and was the wife of Joshua S.White. Joshua remarried Mary C.Good Dec. 17 1864. Children of Mary and Joshua : Barbara Ann White b abt 1844 Jerimiah White b. abt 1845, James White b. abt 1847, and Calvin S, White b abt 1849. A list of Putnam County OH Marriages posted on the OHGenWeb Project shows a John Bear & Dorcas White m 21 April 1853. Are any of you decendants of these Bears,Whites or Martins, that could give me a clue to the whereabouts of these gravesites? The Martin's are my line and I have quite alot of info on them, but I believe I need to find out more about the Bears and Whites in Putnam County during the 1800's to fill in some of the blanks. Thanks in advance for any help you have to offer. Penny Go Get It! Send FREE Valentine eCards with Lycos Greetings http://greetings.lycos.com

There's really no information about relationships--that's something you have to dig in the county records to discover. In the county history book, mostly there are mentions of who lived where and very specific things like that. The things I quoted about Reuben and Henry Cave coming from Madison County, KY, and where they settled, and Richard Cave having a mill and being a JP--those are the kinds of things you can find in this book. They're all clues, but you have to do the detective work. It's fortunate that Boone County has a lot of records available. You can probably get most of them on microfilm at your library or an LDS Family History Center. The book mentions Merit Cave only as one of the (many) men from Boone County who went to California in 1850--which is something you obviously know already. Other Caves mentioned (from the index) are Reverend Cave, Caroline Cave, E. H. Cave, Henry Cave., J. B. Cave, John Cave, Martha Cave, Mary Cave, Mary Williams Cave, Mildred Cave, Reuben Cave, Richard Cave, Sarah Cave, Thomas Cave, William Cave, and William S. Cave. Do any of those sound familiar? >>>>>>>>>>>>>Looking for any information as to the relationships between above individuals? Tom travelback4u@aol.com There were quite a few index entries for Henry, Richard, and some others, so I looked at a few.>>>>What other index entries are in this book about the Cave Famlies? These quotations are from information about early settlers (around 1815, when a treaty was signed with the Indians): "Wm. Graham, Reuben and Henry Cave, and perhaps some others, all from Madison County, KY., settled along the old Boone's Lick trail, or old St. Charles Road, leading from St. Louis to Franklin" (p. 130). John, Robert, and Tyre Martin and Nathan Martin, Jr. are also listed. That's about all the information there is. >>>>>>>>>>>Tyre Martin, John, Robert and Nathan Jr. I'm looking for a possible connection to the Cave families in this information. Thomas W. Rogers travelback4u@aol.com Well, that's a sample. I don't find Tyre Martin mentioned in the same context with any of these Caves. However, note that Reuben and Henry Cave came from Madison County, KY; this is where the Sappingtons, Joneses, Harrises, and Martins who were related to each other came from, too. (You will find Tyre Harris as well as Tyre Martin in Boone County.) P.S. The book is History of Boone County, by Col William F. Switzler, first published in 1882 but recently reprinted by the Boone County Historical Society.

Do you have the book History of Boone County, which has information on this? If not, I can tell you what that says about it. Hi, Evelyn, I wanted to let you and other interested researchers know that I just visited your web page. It looks very nice - I like the layout. Unfortunately, I didn't find anyone I'm looking for!!! :-) I did have trouble when I pasted the corrected url into the address bar - Rootsweb said it didn't exist - twice. But I took off the last part of the url and just went to Freepages.Genealogy.Rootsweb, scrolled down to the directory of freepages, and found it that way. It is there, under the "E"! And the address agrees with that posted. Maybe they don't have their links completely updated yet. While it's still in my address bar, I'll copy and paste it here, with the rest of the extensions - which may help these first few days. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~evelynsbranches/family/fam04174.htm Thanks for letting us know about it..... There is a virus that inserts the underline character in front of the sender's name. I would definitely not open the attachment, and probably just permanently delete the email. The virus or worm automatically sends itself out to addresses it finds in the infected computer. The user can't be blamed. Check it out at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter or go to your own virus-protection webpage to find out more about it. USUALLY you're not infected unless you open the file attached. Good luck.....
Hi Our John and Froney , we're not sure it has been such a hard search. We know that she was in East Texas area during the 1915-17. She was also listed with a Jess Clark. Alice
