No record but James Martin was naturalized in1803 at Chester County SC so I assume they were born in that County. The family migrated to Lincoln County Tn around 1809 thence into Jefferson County Al in 1821 where my relations resided and I was born.

Do you have your Williams parents arrival in the US? Im trying to connect with some of my James siblings if possible.
I'm trying to determine the parents of Mahala Martin and hope someone on the list may have Martins that were in Lincoln Co., North Carolina in the early 1800s. Mahala married Peter Kaylor in 1835 in Lincoln County and by 1840 they were in Georgia. Anyone have Martins in that section of N.C. that had a daughter named Mahala born about 1812? Betty Cason

Can anyone identify Rebecca Martin, born cl805 in Georgia. She was found in l860 in Macon Co Ala...apparently a widow. Children were Sarah, Thomas, Nathanial, John, Benjamin, Maranda and Louvina.....born between 1827 and 1844 in Ala. Liivng next door was Jackson Martin, born 1824, with wife Hannah. Jackson probably a son of Rebecca. Rebecca and most of the children were in Pike Co Alabama in census of l850....Rebecca was living with son, John in Crenshaw Co in l870. There were a number of Martins in the area of Crenshaw in that time frame. There were also a number of Martin families in adjoining Dale Co Ala in those years. This writer is related to William Ervin Martin born Ga in l8l8 and wife, Nancy Pender who were in Dale Co in l860. Will exchange information. John Kulbeth
Hello Martin Researchers: Those of you who are working on your lines back to your 1600s American Ancestors will find the 1600s Ancestors Data Base to be of great help. I have recently posted several hundred new Ancestors to the Data Base bringing the total to over 29,000 entries both men and women. Also listed are several National Societies who have proven many of the Ancestors you will find here. There are also a few new Reference Works that contain many more lines. The entries are coded to indicate to which Society or Reference Work has at least one of their proven lines. Several of the National Societies have over 20 different lines from a single Ancestor. WHEN YOU ENTER THE 1600s ANCESTORS DATA BASE be sure to look at the top of each data page for the link that takes you to the "Data Base Information Page". There you will find the list of codes and how to use them. This is MUST reading if you are to understand the Data Base and how to use it. We are constantly updating the Data Base with Additional Ancestors and references as time permits. More work has been devoted to updating listings of the female Ancestors by going back and including marriage dates. This takes much time and we still have a lot of work to do there. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at; http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you should cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and pressing your enter key. Everyone has free access to the Data Base and to all our posted pages. Enjoy and Happy Hunting Ryan Jackson Data Base Manager America's First Families

Ken, The website for the 1850 Census is: < http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/marsh.htm >. There are ten Martin families listed, and I have been unable to discern if any are related to Benjamin Im thinking I need to go to Moundsville, WV, this summer. Wood County is a few counties south of Marshall County. Gosh, I wish I had better news for you about John: Both John (b~1842, Marshall Co WV) and James Martin (b~1840), siblings of Benjamin Martin (b.1816, PA), were casualties of the Civil War. They both mustered at Camp Delaware Ohio on 6 Aug 1862 into the 96th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry Company K. John (20 yrs old, 57, light complexion, blue eyes, brown hair) died 3 Jun 1863 of yellow fever after a long stay at a hospital in Lexington Kentucky, and is buried in the Lexington National Cemetery, grave #441. James (22 yrs old, 59, light complexion, blue eyes and light hair) died of yellow fever at Smiths Plantation Louisiana (before the battle of Vicksburg), after being wounded in battle of Chickasaw Bluffs or Ft. Hindman. All this info is from obtained military and pension records. When I ordered them I had hoped to find something about children of John or James, via the pension records, but neither married. I did find out that poor father Benjamin died of consumption 13 June 1866, and papers show that widow Mary Thompson Martin was still trying to obtain a pension from the government for her two sons deaths in 1892! She finally won a $12 per month mothers pension until she died 30 November 1901. Ordering the military records and pensions records sure made these ancestors come alive to us. It is so hard to research a surname like Martin (common) and then add to that a given name like Benjamin and John (that is even more common). Brickwalls are a part of the addiction, I guess! D. Martin Kenneth Martin <[email protected]> wrote:...OK.. I am VERY interested in some of the information you have on his children. Specifically, I want to know what you have on sibling John. Hi Jessice, My Martins are from Phila. too. Just don't have an Ellwood except to tell you my Mother Alice Susan Martinb.1916 married Ellwood T. Hunsicker b.1918, and I am their daughterb.1947. They, the Martin's, lived on Vassar Street in Phila. My Aunt Ruth, b.1924 lives in Chester Co., and they, including my Uncle Philip, b.1922, had three children, Linda b.1949, Nancy, b,1953 and Randy b.1959. Parents for Alice and Philip, were Percy Martin b.1875 On the Sea, and Ida Mae Cusworth,b.1886. Percy's parents were James Martin, b. 1842 in Bodmin, Cornwall, and Susannah Perry b.1848 Bodmin, Cornwall. James Martin's parents William, b.1816 Bodmin, Cornwall and Elizabeth Pascoe. That's as far as I have been able to go on my Martins, I have gone further with my Perry's. Susan Hunsicker
