    1. Joseph Martin married Ann Bailey, 1776 VA
    2. Lilly
    3. Hello, There is a Joseph Martin, who married an Ann Bailey on 3-1-1776 at Loudon Co VA. Did they have a son named Bailey Martin? Did that son go to Rockingham Co NC? There are several Bailey Martin listed at Reidsville, Rockingham Co NC, and I am wondering about them. My ancestor is William M. Martin b. 1826 NC, married in Rockingham Co NC to Mary M. Young b. 1825 NC. She is sister to Barzilla J. Young b. 1815 NC, he married Druzilla, and they moved to Henderson Co TN. William and Mary also moved in 1853 to Henderson Co TN. In Rockingham Co NC, there is a marriage between a Bailey Martin and a Isabelle Herron in 1818. William Martin b. 1826 NC named one of his sons Bailey Martin, and a daughter Isabelle Martin. Is anyone working on this line?? Best regards, Lilly Martin

    3. Hi I am new to this list. I am looking for parents and siblings of Samuel Houston MARTIN b. abt. 1814 in TN. According to the 1880 census his father was from NC and his morther from TN. He was marr. on Nov 2 1839 to Rebecca Bryant in White Co TN. Rebecca is the dau of James BRYANT and Jane GENTRY. He (I think) was Hustin MARTIN in the 1840 censusof White Co TN. It was the correct age for he and Rebecca and no children listed. Their first child was Amanda b. in 1841. In 1850, they were listed in the Jackson Co TN census. In 1850 they were listed in the Putnam Co TN census. Samuel d. in 1891 in Putnam Co and Rebecca d. bet. 1900 & 1910 in Putnam Co. Their children were James Washington, John Vance, Jesse Lafayette, Johial/Jahial, Amanda C, Martha A, Mary Sophronia, Rebecca, Millie Frances, Manerva Jane. 1. Re: Report on the problem with the NARA researcher
    2. Hello all, I have heard from Kathy Wolfe and rather than being apologetic about her tardiness, she, instead only offered the excuse of having a family emergency that pulled her away and not near Internet access. Notice that she was able to find access as soon as we contacted her employer. She said that she would be away for at least 3 more weeks, so I suggested that she refund all the monies that she has received, but I wouldn't hold my breath that she will do that. I don't know if you are aware, but if you order Military Records,.Land Warrants or Pension Records from the NARA, it takes a couple of months to receive them, but they do not charge you if they do not find the record that you have requested. A Military record costs about $17.50 and a complete pension is $ 38.00 with selected pages costing less and I can't remember how much. It has been my experience that there is a lot of genealogical information in those pages that aren't sent with the selected pages, so I always order the entire package. One such pension was over 200 pages. Wow, did I get my money's worth. The forms for ordering the NARA records can be requested online and they are free. You receive them in only a few days. Also, for future reference. If you send money to a person that you do not know, send it via Paypal. They have refunded my money when I didn't receive an item for which I paid. Remember, if the person has an account, Paypal can collect from them and if not, Paypal will make sure that the person is banned from doing any future business with them. Julia

    1. An Alert about one of your employees.
    2. Hello, I am writing with a serious concern. A person who is, apparently employed by you, uses the email address of: [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) and calls herself, Kathy Wolfe, subscribed to a Genealogy discussion list, the [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) over a month ago and offered to locate Military and Rev. War Pension files at the Nation Archives for other researchers. Since ordering from the NARA takes months, this seemed to be a great idea. I am the Administrator of the MARTIN list and I only learned yesterday that many people sent money to Kathy, about $60.00 each. Kathy has not contacted them since Feb. 15th and will not respond to emails sent to her. She is still subscribed to the MARTIN list and may be aware that the problem with her is being discussed and that she may be reported to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Internet fraud. The fact that she is still listed as a member of the list means that she is receiving the emails because the system automatically bumps an address if the box is full or closed. If Kathy Wolfe is employed by your firm, would you, please, inform her of this serious matter and advise me as to whether she intends to fulfill her contracts. Thank you, Julia French Wood MARTIN-L List Adm.

    2. I have comsulted with my son who is an attorney and he says that Internet fraud is the same as mail fraud. If you have been defrauded, you should contact the U.S. Attorney's office nearest you. You should have Kathy's name and address and the stub from the money order which you sent and copies of your exchange of emails if possible. You can find her offer to do the research in our Martin list archives. Julia French Wood List Adm. In a message dated 3/14/2005 7:01:19 P.M. 1. Re: [MARTIN-L] Military Research at the National Archives
    2. List readers: Does anyone know this Kathryn Wolfe who made the offer to search and send pension files located at the National Archives? Some of you may remember her original message posted to this list in January 2005. I contacted her and sent her money to obtain a pension file. She emailed me on or about February 14 that she had found the file and would view and copy it that next Saturday and mail it to me. I have not heard from her since nor have I received the file or my money back. I have sent her repeated emails asking for a status or some kind of reply. I have not hear back from her. I am concerned that something may have happened to her. If anyone has been in contact with her would you let me know or the list know what is the situation. I would also suggest that anyone wanting to hire her to do a search wait until she replies to the list that she is okay and able to resume conducting research. I hope this message reaches Kathryn and that she will please contact me. The worse case scenario is one I do not want to mention or think about at this time.
