I obtained wills for Andrew Martin and Walter Martin from the Superior Coirt Clerk in Rockingham Co. I don't know what Will Book and pages they came from. Here is information from the two wills, as best as I can decipher: 1 Andrew Martin, will dated Sept. 20, 1805. 1 Esther Martin, wife 2 Andrew Martin, son, deceased 3 James Martin, grandson 2 Walter Martin, son 3 Andrew Martin, grandson 2 Robert Martin, son, deceased 3 John Martin, grandson 2 Agnes Martin, daughter 2 Walter Martin, will dated Aug 31, 1817 2 wife not named, but believed to be Jane Walker 3 Andrew Martin 3 Agnes 3 Mary 3 Easther 3 Robert 3 William, under age 21. 3 Abraham 3 Isabel 3 Ellenour 3 Rachel I am descended from Andrew, Walter, and William Martin. William moved to North Mississippi around 1837. My brickwall is Andrew Martin and Esther. I suspect that Andrew is the son of Patrick Martin of Augusta Co., Virginia, but have been unable to confirm that. I would appreciate any information. Kenneth W. George Washington Martin, b. c. 1849 married Lucinda Yeargin, b. c. 1856 in Dade Co., GA. in c 1876. Lucinda was the orphan grandaughter of Greenberry and Susannah Prince. I do not know George W.'s parents. Do you? They were living in Marion Co., TN in 1880 with one daughter. Any one have any idea where they moved by 1900? Anyone related? Hello, The procedure you have outlined below is NOT correct. Please follow the procedure I will again outline in easy steps: 1. open up http://www.tnyesterday.com/ 2. You will be looking at a SEARCH box. The words that are above it is: Search this site. You will type in the search box : Martin 3. The results will be returned 275 items which contain the name Martin. Of those 275 items named Martin, #51, #82, #74 are my own ancestors, the family of William M. Martin b. 1826 NC d. 1870 at Henderson Co TN. Some of these Martin names are in NC, but most in TN. I just went online to check that it was working and it indeed is working. I did NOT click on families, as you outlined below, and I will do that later to see what families named Martin are listed. I used the Search box to search the entire website for the name Martin. When you go to www.tnyesterday.com scroll down to middle of page. Type in Martin then you have to scroll down to the bottom of page and go to the #'s you are searching for. That is what the numbers are for, as I would translate what he is saying. If not, then we are all stumped. If you go into families at top of page then click on county, then click on M (for M names) then there is searching there. -------Original Message------- From: Jon Martin Date: 04/22/05 20:25:54 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MARTIN-L] tnyesterday.com I finally found a Martin on this site.
