Hi! Sorry..........not "my' ABRAHAM MARTIN.........mine went to Wayne Co, IL most likely from either KY or TN; and died in Wayne Co, IL in 1852. He had a son named ABRAHAM, also..but he died in 1862- so couldn't be his Father, either. Am not certain what you have, but since you placed a question mark after your first sentence, I thought you may not have Allison in the 1850 Census. Based on you stating John A was born 1853 in Liverpool, Oh., I was able to locate Allison and family in the 1860 Census, and finding he was born in Pa., and the children in Va., I was able to locate him in the 1850 Census in Va. 1850 District #26 Hancock Cty., Va. Alison 26 Riverman B: Pa. Lucinda 23 Va Saml 4 " Sarah 2 " Infant 1 mos. If you have access to the 1860 census also, that would help. I'm having a problem with that first son. Is that an abbreviation for Samuel? Thank you so very much in advance. This was information I did not have. I am trying to find the link between Alison & Andrew. We know they are related by DNA, but I don't know how just yet. Laura, William Martin, my gggrandfather, remained in NE Mississippi. I have no information that Robert and Abraham came to Mississippi. However, a second look through my files found an old posting from a researcher that indicates that Robert Davis Martin married Sarah Griffin Warnick, and that Abraham (Abe) Martin married Mary D. Warnick. The same info says that Robert died in Tennessee, and that Mary Warnick was born in Tennessee. Thus it would appear that these 2 sons of Walter and Jane (Walker) Martin settled in Tennessee, and are probably not the Martin's you are seeking. Best regards, Kenneth W. Martin Corinth, MS ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2005 10:27 AM Subject: Re: [MARTIN-L] Martin Family of Rockingham Co NC. > > Kenneth > > HMMMMM...........interesting: as there is a ROBERT MARTIN who married a NANCY HEADY "next door" in White Co, IL ca: 1821. Hi Laura & Kenneth, Looking for the parents of William Ellis MARTIN, b. 1 Feb. 1871 possibly in or near Morris IL, IN, or maybe Schuyler Co. MO. He married Margaret M. AYERS 18 Jan. 1894. They are my husbands Grt-Grdparents. Their children were Arthur Ray, Eunice, Mable, Hazel, Edward, and Glen. They were born and or raised in Schuyler Co. MO. It appears that the father of William Ellis MARTIN was probably Abram or Abraham MARTIN born about 1840/50-ish in Morris IL and died after 1930 in Newton Co. MO. The wife and mother is probably Louisa SPEERS or SPEARS, most likely of Schuyler Co. MO; b. 1850 and died before 1930. Wondered if any of this might connect with your MARTINs. Hi Ken and all, I agree that the DNA testing can open doors that you never dreamed existed and recommend that each of you find a male of your line who has the surname of Martin and submit his DNA for testing. Of course this is if you are not a male with the surname of Martin as Ken is. A gentle reminder, however, that the cost of any product isn't supposed to be mentioned on any Rootsweb.com list. Also, Ken has the amount wrong. If you join the Martin or any DNA surname project through the Project website you get a discount on the price, therefore, the 12 marker test is less than Ken stated. The 25 marker test is much better at determining a relationship between participants and the 37 marker test is even better, but the test that you order is a personal one. If you order the 12 marker test, that is better than not participating at all and you can upgrade to a higher test at a later date if desired. The Martin DNA Project is at: http://www.martindna.com/ Click on the Join Code at the middle of the page to join and click on "Charts" on the upper toolbar to see the results, so far of the testing. Hi Julia, I will agree with everything Julia has said - and thanks Julia for the great list and info on our DNA project! However, I haven't been maintaining the site at http://www.martindna.com <http://www.martindna.com/> since Vicki Cragen took over the project, so that "Charts" page is not up to date. To see the latest results of the Martin DNA Project, go to http://www.familytreedna.com/public/martin/ this is the site Vicki is using and it is kept current by Family Tree DNA each time a new test result comes in. Thanks Julia! Kay

Hi Laura, Sorry, but I do not have any more information on Abraham Martin. Here is the reference to Abraham in Walter Martin's will : "... I give to my three sons Robert William & Abraham all my land as to be equally divided after William arrives to the age of twenty one years old tho be it remembered the profit of the land ?? remain with with my wife and her small children as in the first clause mentioned. ....." Hi Listers, Here is a website that lists Martins at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Texas, you might be interested in Susan Hunsicker whose Mother was Alice Susan Martin http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~t42cemeteries/MountOliveM.htm

Does anyone have a link or any information on Allison B. Martin who was in OHIO in the 1850's? The information I have on him is from a death certificate for one of his sons, John A. Martin, b 20 JAN 1853 in East Liverpool, OH. I am hoping to find a link to Andrew Martin who was given a land grant in the Northwest Territories in 1799 (which became Ohio in 1803). Andrew had two known sons, David and William. Thanks for any help linking these two together. (we know there is a link by DNA testing)
I am searching for Howard O. Martin who lived in Las Vegas, NV and died there on 7/19/1991. I've traced him from CA to NV and I'm at a stop. Am hoping to locate one/some of his family members. If anyone has any info at all on Howard I'd be grateful if you would pass it on to me. Thanks. The amazing think is that is my way back family--not Joseph but his brother John. There certainly is a lot of differences in the bio's I have run across. Joseph Maratin, according to Emmett Starr was an Englishman who was sent to America to end an unsuitable love match at hom.. Joseph then proceded to fall inlove with Susannah Chiles, a plantation owners daughter and from her had a family of ll children- He was much more authentic as a hero in the bio's I have. Anyway thank you for sharing your data.
