    1. The Martin DNA Project
    2. Hello all, I am helping Kay Martin and Vicki Cragen with the Martin DNA Project and have created new webpages. We have had lots of interest in the Project and have solved many Martin connection questions with DNA. While many of our participants haven't sent us their Ancestor Chart and we can't post their results, yet, many have been posted and several are awaiting DNA results. You may view the DNA Project at: http://www.small-stuff.com/MARTIN/DNA/index.htm Click on "DNA Test Results" at the right. Julia French Wood

    3. The quarterlies stopped print many years ago. I have found copies in several libraries as I used to travel alot for business. One of them was the Dallas Public Library had most of the volumes. You might luck in to one or more people in the list that has one or two of them. 1. Owen Martin b. 1821 prob. Va.
    2. Donna Barnes
    3. I'm looking for anyone who may have information on an Owen Martin b. 1821 prob. in Va. (based on census information). He married Sarah Starnes in Meigs Co., Tn. in 1844. He died 1865 and was buried in Nashville National Cemetery in Davidson Co., Tn. (indicates he was an employee). His family is still in Meigs Co.in 1870. I suspect he is somehow connected to Jesse Martin b. 1777 Henry Co., Va. and his wife, Jane Hunter b. ca 1789 Va. Their children are in the area at the same time as Owen. They also are some of the only other Martins that I've seen with any children named Owen (they had a son named J. Wiley Owen). Owen and Sarah had the following children: Mary Ann b. 1845 John b. 1847 Sarah b. 1850 Amanda b. ca 1853 James b. 1855 Owen b. 1857 Jacob b. 1859 Vilena b. 1866 Any help would be appreciated. Donna

They married late in life, around the time of the civil war. They are listed on the 1870 and 1880 census in Avoyelles Parish, La. Another family of Martins lived nearby them. This was my ggg grandmother and she was married to Issac Martin until she died in 1904. He died about 10 years before her. I think that they both had children from previous marriages. I know that she did. They had one child together that died as a child, named Barbara Gayle Martin, according to our Family Bible. Do you think that this Issac Martin could be related to yours? 2. Thank You Carolyn, for sending the cemetery info on James Martin.Could you enlighten us just a little more? Do you know when this cemetery in the Havana community was founded, or if it is for African Americans or causcasian, both? I know there was some prominent cotton plantations in and around that area in Hale Co,...Havana and Cuba in that period. Did you find this online, or see it in person? Acording to these dates he was age 73, so he must have lived there.I wonder if this is a marker that has been put on graves in recent years,...marking military.I am very interested because I was missing a James, although these dates do not exactly fit. I had thought mine went to Texas and died there, but you know how that goes. I wonder if any other Martins are in Concord cem.I will try to research further in Hale County. Thanks Stella

    1. Martins in Hamilton County, Ohio
    2. Juvanne Martin
    3. Dear list; I am trying to find the parents of Alexander Constantine Martin, who was born 15 Dec. 1833 in Cincinatti, Ohio. The father was born in Virginia and the mother was born in New Jersey. Recently, I found a Hannah Martin, 44, born in New Jersey living in Warren County, Washington Township, Ohio in the 1850 census. There was no husband. So, either the husband died prior to 1850 or they got a divorce. The census reads as follows: Isaac Smith 28 M Farmer born Ohio Rhoda Smith 22 F born Ohio Hannah Smith 5 F born Ohio Theodore Smith 2 M born Ohio Harriet E. Smith 4/12 F born Ohio Hannah Martin 44 F born New Jersey Constine Martin 16 M laborer born Ohio Charles Martin 13 M born Ohio _____(can't read) Martin 11 M born Ohio Mary Martin 9 F born Ohio By 1860, OUR A.C. Martin was already married and living in Madison County, Iowa. He died in Hesperia, Oceana County, Michigan. If anyone has any clues on the above mentioned people, PLEASE get back to me. Regards, Juvanne Martin Nampa, Idaho
