    3. The Martins on the site are from all over, but mainly from North Carolina. I have extended family covered in Ohio, so you may find a connection in that area. Some of Joseph's children or grandchildren went to GA, KY, AL, MS, and TN. I haven't been following the thread of "Something fishy about John H Martin b. 1849??", so I don't know if there is even a connection, but I do believe there was a John. Most of Joseph Martin's children were born in late 1700s to around the mid-1820s, but your John could possibly be a grandchild. 3. I have a John Henry Martin b: Aug 5, 1849 who seemed to enjoy putting a different birthplace on every census. Some say GA, some say KY, some say AR. And if that's not enough, his stated birthplace changed from GA to KY to Manx Island, UK. He told all his children he was French! He named one son William Claudious Martin and it does sound French??? 3. The problem (as I have found out..) is that John H & John Henry were common names (kinda like the "Smith" of the times). I have found that name in many of my searches, with each name being from different clans. In my years of research in Ohio, PA, and WV (and VA) I have discovered "at least" 15 different clans, none of them related. Some were British, Some French, Some Irish, Some German, etc.... This makes the searches very difficult for someone of that name. (I have a John Henry also... as well as 2 John's and 2 John A.'s). 2. Greetings Catherine and Fellow Martin Researchers, I have no idea why that would happen; I received your information on Archibald Martin and Lucinda Pool just fine. I have responded to both your emails, too. I have had the same email address for 12 years. I have kept it in the event any of my earliest postings are read, other researchers can still find me. I will send out the link to the website I am working on when it is further along. I am still loading information and trying to figure out how to use spread sheets for tax and census records. Learning HTML is like learning a foreign language; time consuming and lots of mistakes along the way! Thank you for your interest in Martin's in Georgia; Barrow, Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, and Lumpkin Counties.
