He married MARY JANE ("POLLY") HEADY (may or may not have been her 1st marriage) prior to the birth of their son in 1825. All children said to have been born in IL- but due to courthouse having burned- there are no records of marriage/birth/death . (It figures, doesn't it??!!) Hi, I am looking for information on a: Jerald/Gerald David Martin born in Ohio. Do not have a date Married Viola Willis around Dec 1905 in District of Columbia I have Viola in the DC 1910 Census, listed as married but no husband in house. In the 1910 Census it has: Mrs. G. D. Martin Head Viola 1906 David 1908 Orville 1909 They all list father from Ohio. 1920 DC Census lists Viola Martin Head WD Viola 1906 David 1908 Leah 1911 Jack 1912 1920 list father as from Virginia. Jerald/Gerald David Martin was killed in 1918 in France during the war. Can not get Military records because K-Z files were lost in a fire or flood, can not remember right off the top of my head. Check Military Grave sites found one that has a David G. Martin died 1918, buried around 1921. so that would say to me that he died our seas and it took that long to get the body back. I called the Cemetery and they have no information on him at. No personal information is listed on his file. So any help or information would be great. Hopefully someone will recognize this guy. Owen Martin b. 1821 in Va. (based on responses on census). He is in Meigs Co., Tn. by 1844 when he married Sarah Starnes. In 1860, there is a Susan Martin living with Owen and his family. She may have been a sister. She was b. ca 1834. Owen's and Sarah's children are: Mary Ann m. Thomas J. I am going to post this as simply as I can and then I will unsubscribe for awhile. It is good to see so much activity on a list. My gg-grandfather Samuel Houston Martin was born in TN between 1812 and 1820. According to Census, his father born in NC and mother in TN. TN of course was created from NC territory. I have no idea who Samuel's parents are but assume they are one of the MARTINs in White Co in early 1800s. I am really interested in William Martin who was in White Co in 1840 and was of age to be Samuel's father. On Nov. 2 1839 Samuel married Rebecca Bryant b. abt 1816, dau of James and Jane Gentry Bryant. in White Co TN. James Bryant was b. VA abt 1786 and Jane Gentry in NC. Jane was deceased before 1850 so have no census date for her. James is in Jackson Co TN in 1850 with children and w/o Jane. Rebecca Bryant's siblings were John J, Jordan, Clayborn, Martha and Anne. In 1840 Samuel and Rebecca are in White Co TN, 1850 in Jackson Co TN and 1860 Putnam Co. TN. They lived in Putnam Co the rest of their lives. Samuel died in 1891 and Rebecca died after 16 June 1900 Their children are Amanda C b. 1841 m. John H Roberts and Nehemiah Mitchell. James Washington b. 1844 m Celia C Elrod (my great grandparents) Mary S m. Jessie M Jones Millie Frances m. Jesse D Sherrell John Vance m. Louisa Caroline Hickey Jessie L m. Margarette Hickey Martha A m. John Jones Minerva Jane m. William J Roberts Rebecca m. George W Elrod Johial/Jahile b. 1854 in Arkansas and is youngest child. Hi Folks, Lots of traffic on the Martin List lately, and success stories. I will try my annual appeal for help in locating any info on my Martin. She is Elizabeth Martin, who married my great grandfather, Asa Chaddick/Chadick, Jr., on 14 Apr 1846 in Union County, AR. That is where they got the marriage license, but I think they actually lived in Union Parish, LA, just across the state line, and the physically closest county seat was in AR. The 1850 Calcasieu Parish, LA census lists her birthplace as "LA", and her age as 20. Any help with her ancestors, siblings, etc. would be appreciated. I have been looking for my 3g Grandfather's parents and siblings for years. I can't find anything on him before 1849 when he showed up at "traders point" near Council Bluffs Iowa with a young son. After that time his life and family has been well documented. Three different sources, including family bibles all record him as Moses Martin, born Rutland Vermont 14 Sept 1805. I recently found a 1920 Census that has his youngest son, Russell C. farming in Washington Co. Vermont, near Winthfield?(hard to read the census) Seems that he moved there after WW I for a short time. Could have he had family connections there? Grant
