This had me confused as to whether they were the same person or not until I found the birth registration for "Arthur John". A more extreme example is my Great Grandfather George Harry Thomas Walker. Over the course of his life he appears in records as "George", "George H.T.", "George Harry", "Harry", "Harry G.T." and "Harry George Thomas"! Can't help much with the specifics as my Marshall ancestors all hail from Northumberland Regards Bruce
