I have been doing Marshal of Southern Maryland geneology for years and have never found a connection between the Southern Maryland Marshall's and the Virginia Marshall's. William was already on land records in St Mary's County by 1638 just three years after the first settlers came to Maryland. He may have immigrated from England or possibly from Virginia to take advantage of new lands opening up in Maryland. William had three sons, William, Thomas and Richard. All remained in Maryland.
