Hello, I believe there were a number of different Marshalls coming to the new country. My ancestors sailed from County Lincoln in England about 1633, arriving in Boston. This was Thomas. His son Samuel moved to Windsor Ct. and established a large family there in the late 1600's. Many of those moved to New York and other parts of New England. At least one son moved to the Midwest. My ancestor, a grandson of Capt Samuel, b. 1705 moved to NY Pa Va NC SC and settled in Ga in 1770/1. There is much about this family in Stiles' ANCIENT HISTORY OF WINDSOR. Hope this is of some value.
