I have an Abijah Marshall in my line which might help you since it is an unusual name. Mine was born on 20 April 1777 in Poultney, Vermont which is not far from the New York border. He was one of 14 children of Ichabod Marshall and Lydia Stearns both from the Boston area of Massachusetts. Abijah married Mary(?) Dunks. My immigrant ancestor, Thomas Marshall, arrived in Boston in 1633/4. His som, Samuel, from whom I descended, moved to Windsor Ct. His grandson, Daniel, one of many children, married a Martha Stearns in the 1740's, and began traveling about 1750, ending in Georgia in 1770/1. In researching my New England ancestry, l gathered that many then moved west to NY, Midwest and elsewhere.
