Hello, Does anyone on the list have any info on Col. James Marshall? He was from St. Augustine FL and married a woman in Savannah. They adopted a child. I think he died between 1841 and 1850, leaving her a widow. She was the owner of the Mary Marshall Hotel in Savannah, GA. His portrait is over the mantle in the hotel Susan
Hi Susan -- My Marshall family came to Savannah, GA in the late 1760's. There were the parents and 7 children. My ancestor, Joseph, was a Loyalist who wound up in St. Augustine, Florida at the end of the Revolutionary War, after which he went to Nova Scotia with his wife and children. He did have a son named James that I haven't been able to track down. If you think this might tie into your Marshalls, I'd love to hear from you. I have a few other details about James and loads of research on my end of this family. Judy Bingham Fullerton, California
