Hi there. I am descended from Ida Mae Gilliam (or it may be Gillum), b 1880 in Texas, d 1948 in Oklahoma. Lizzie Ann is her sister (b 1875 in Texas, d 1923 in Oklahoma). According to Ida's death certificate, her mother's name is Sarah P. Marshall (b 1859, d 1923 in Oklahoma). Her last name at the time of her death is Benefield. Here is where it gets confusing. When I put in the family tree file information I have into Ancestry.com, I found it very interesting that it pulled up the 1860 census (in Keytesville, Chariton, Missouri) with Sarah Gilliam being 1 year old and her parents are James and Martha Gilliam. Could it be possible that Ida and Lizzie's last name is her mother's maiden name? If that is the case, I'm not sure where the Marshall came from that was listed on the death certificate. I have been told that Sarah was a Mississippi River Queen and it is very well possible she had her 2 daughters out of wedlock. Is there anyone with connections to this family that can provide any insight? Thanks, Angela Miller
