    1. Re: [MARSHALL] MARSHALL Digest, Vol 3, Issue 52
    2. Hi List, I am interested in the Samuel Marshall that is described in this Marshall Post. My family has a Samuel in it. I thought I would post it for information. In the book, Brooke County Archives, there is a section "Index to Ohio County Records Referring to Brooke County Property 1773-1798. In the Grantor index there is a listing for Samuel Marshell et ux to Roland Mathew page 104, Samuel Marshall et ux to John Roland page 251; etc. There are 3 etries for Samuel Marshall, then James and Agnes Marchell to John Agnew (note: Brother in law) page 345, then Samuel & Fannie Marshell to John Graham, page 345, Samuel & Fannie Marshall to Francis Morrison page 347 (It is my belief that this Samuel Marshell/Marshall is the son of James and Nancy Marchell.) In 1807, Samuel A. Marshall and James Marshall witnessed a deed in Brooke Co, VA. Robert Marshall was a part of the deed. James Marshall of Charlestown, VA signed his will 24 May 1814. He named one of his sons, Samuel Marshall. He states that he has previously given Samuel his portion. James Marshall was married to Nancy Agnew. (Proof of first name:LDS Roll 848626, Brooke County WVA Marriges, Deaths, Wills and Inventories) "Nancy Duvall d.6/15/1857 Parents James and Nancy Marshall Person making death report, Jas.M. Duvall, son. Her nickname was Agnes, as was her daughter's. Proof of Nancy Agnew Marshall's maiden name: Will of Samuel Agnew Dated Sept 1818, probated 1819. He names his Grandchildren, one of which is Samuel A., son of James Marshal, dec'd.. (he inherited land in Washington Co. Pa) Washington Co PA, Will book #3 p. 279. (Note: All of Samuel Agnew's grandsons that were named after him received bequests) >From an index to Deeds, Brooke County W.VA (Marshall names) under Marshall terrace, plan of lots, it lists Grantee Fannie, E. Woomer, Grantor, Samuel A. Marshall, book 67 page 545, April 26, '37 (descendant of Samuel A. Marshall of 1800 ?????????) Then the Deed book under same heading has Fannie Marshall, Grantee, Grantor, Samuel A. Marshall, book 74 page, 323, September 26, '41 Court Order. (again is this a descendant of the 1800 Samuel A. Marshall????) It does not have the 19 before the '37 and '41, but they are handwritten entries down the page after 1907. Just thought I would post this information. I am a descendant of James and Nancy Marshall. Sometimes I just wonder how many more ways the Clerks can find to spell Marshall! Betty In a message dated 4/14/2008 2:01:23 A.M.
