    1. [MARSHALL] George & Mary/George, Jr., Thomas, and Edward
    2. My line of Marshalls came to the United States aboard the Constitution in 1827. The ship docked in NY. By 1830, the family appeared on the census in North River, St Johns FL. Apparently, Mary died, and George, Sr. remarried. The Indian Wars were going on. In 1849 Thomas married Sarah Ann Cessar in Savannah GA. in 1850 & 60, George Sr. appears?in Florida He must have been in the wars. He was stationed at Fort Dallas, and was given a land grant in Dade County FL. No sign of George Jr, or Edward. I believe that, after some trouble, George, Sr. went back to England, and died alone, about 1870/71. Thomas died running the blockade in GA. I learned something about genetic traits over the weekend...a cleft chin is inherited from ones parent/s. Thomas's son (my grgrandfather) had a very prominent cleft chin. I don't see it on his mother, so I feel that Thomas Marshall, born in 1824 in England (probably Liverpool), had a cleft chin. My brother and my uncle have contributed their DNA to the Family Tree Marshall DNA study. They have identical Y-DNA. To date, there are no matches. Please consider participating in this study if you are a male Marshall. Thanks, Susan
