His grandfather, James Marshall, was a native of Washington County, Pa., and a man of great energy and force of character, and who became prominently identified with the agricultural and industrial interests of that section. He was a farmer by occupation." (Lee County, Iowa). Samuel T. was born about 1816. I am searching for the parents of Gilbert Marshall b abt 1767. So James would probably be born circa 1737ish.
