    1. Re: [MARSHALL] Rev. Abraham Marshall
    2. Joe I have Mathew's will dated 1794 in Wilkes County, GA. The area the family was living in became Lincoln County in 1796. The part of Lincoln Co. they were living in was on the southern border. Their boundry was Little River. Abraham actually was recognized in their church minutes and John was in the area from time to time in land transactions. My Mathew, in 1767 stated in his petition for an English Crown Grant that he had been in the Province for 12 years, had a wife and child and wanted land to cultivate. His will of 1794 included wife Rhoda, Sons John, Mathew Jr., James and Dixon. The daughters were Constant, Margaret and Rhoda 2. Actually Mathew, by arriving in St. Pauls Parrish in 1755 was probably the first Marshall family in the area. If you run across any thing that would tie Mathew to Virginia, I would appreciate the information. Bill

    2. Joseph Marshall
    3. Bill, Thanks for the email. I would like a copy of Matthew's will for my records if you're willing to share. Do you have a copy of Ed Cashin's book, The King's Ranger. It has a mentioning of a Captain Joseph Marshall several times and I can't see it being my ancestor Joseph, especially with Daniel's being a close knit family and the story about Rev Daniel and his wife with the British. ( I'll send you some references if you don't.) Also, I have a copy of a land grant to a Daniel Marshall in S C during the 1750's or 60's, and I find it hard to believe it was Rev Daniel's son, in that he always traveled with his family and settled in Columbia County, also. (then Richmond Co.) And there is a family with roots in Putnam Co. that says it is different from Rev Daniel's, even with Rev Daniel's grandson's widow returning to Putnam Co with two small sons after the early death of Rev Daniel's son Rev. Jabez. I can give you these contacts if you don't have them. It would be interesting to get these two families sorted out. I have read someplace that two Marshall Families were in the same area of North Carolina at the same time in the 1750's. Did the other Marshall's in North Carolina come from the Marshall's of Virginia?. As you Know, Rev Daniel came from the Marshall's who landed in Boston in 1633/34. Much is documented about his family between then and his leaving Windsor Ct. about 1750/1.
