Maine 1790 census lists Benjamin Marshall from Portland, Maine? In later census a Thomas, Robert, Samuel. I believe Charles to be a part of these families. Possible the original family came from Rhode Island as there were several families there at this time as well as Boston, Mass. Family believes original immigrant as being in Boston named James or John from Scotland . Charles was on the 1860 , 1870 Islesboro census living with a Francis Chase and his wife Prudence ( Marshall) Chase. He came to Essex County, Ontario,Canada in 1870 where he lived, raised a family and died in April 23, 1917. Always wondered if there was family in Michigan that was related but no connection.
