    1. [MARSHALL] Helen Francis Marshall (MacHedo or Oddeio)
    2. I am trying to help a friend who died from cancer in 2005 -- her greatest wish was to find her roots for her grandchildren. She knew very little information. She knew the MacHedo family changed their names to Marshall. I found Joseph B. MacHedo (b/ @ 1861 in Portugal) in 1920 census in Contra Costa County, California, with wife Rosie F (b. @ 1871 in California). Daughter Isabelle C. Mattos was living there (b. 1896 in California) and two granddaughters -- Rosalie Mattoes (b 1914 in California) and Helen F. Oddeio (age 11 months). I have not been able to locate a birth for either of the granddaughters. Helen Francis Marshall was born (according to information given to me and in the CA Death Index) 19 Jan 1920 in California. Died 16 Jan 1971, in Glendale, Los Angeles, California. She married Dushan Don Mikich and had two children - a son Donald Lee Mikich died in 1972 in Los Angeles County, CA of a malignant brain tumor. A daughter Donna Lee Mikich (my friend died in 2002). To further complicate matters Donna's birth record shows her parents as Don Nelson and mother's maiden name as Oddio. There is a long story behind this and Donna only learned of it shortly before her mother's death when she was told if she ever needed her birth record this is how she could locate it. Any one connected to this family or has heard this story before? Would love any suggestions on how to locate the family. Only record I have found is the 1920 census. Appreciate any information or suggestions. Sharon _GenBound@aol.com_ (mailto:GenBound@aol.com) **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: grburk1 Surnames: Marshall, Moor, Kimbal, McCullough, Bredin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.marshall/4857/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In 1767, William Marshall and wife Elizabeth with children Robert, Jannet, Mary, and Jane arrive in Charleston on the ship Earl of Donegal. They were Protestants from Ireland taking advantage of the SC Act of 1761. In 1768, Izrael Moor(e) and wife Nancy with children William, Izrael, Richard, John, Elizabeth, Jane, Christian, Ann, and Elnor arrive also in Charleston on the Brigatine Chichester. They were also protestants from Ireland coming under the same Act of 1761. These 2 families go from Charleston to the Camden District. They possibly new each other in Ireland, but after arriving Robert Marshal and Christian Moore marry ca 1774. Robert has a plat of land (100) acres located in Camden District on Singletons creek in 1788 and is on the 1790 Camden district census. Izrael Moore dies ca 1782 leaving a will in Camden district, also on Singletons creek in which he names Israel Moor, Samuel Moor, Elizabeth Kimbal, Jane M. McCullough, Christian Marshall, Agnes Beard, Elinor Mo! or, James Bredin and Mary Bredin. I know that Robert Marshall and wife Christian(na) move some time after 1790 to Sumner County, TN where he dies and leaves a will. This will is signed in 1803, a codicil is added and dated January 1804 and the estate is inventoried in June 1804. Mentioned in the will is his land on Singletons Creek in SC. Two of his witnesses are Isral Moore and William Moore- presumed to be brothers-in-law. The widow and some of her children then leave TN for Christian County, KY. I am looking for other serious researchers also working these or connected lines. I would like to know more of their time in SC, what were their activities during the revolutionary war, and I would also like to pursue this family back to Ireland. Thanks for any help. Will work with and share further information. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
